The IET-VICKRAMCE Chapter of our college will be organized a One Day workshop on the topic “ Soft skills for professional Excellence” by Er. M. Rose Cyril Xavier, Sub-Divisional Engineer BSNL,Nagercoil for the Third year and Final year IET student members on March 3rd, 2018, Saturday at 9.30 pm at the Ramanujam conference Hall (Core Block). The program began with welcomed the gathering by IETCoordinator Er.V.Kumarasamy . The Guest Er.M.Rose Cyril Xavierl submitted the speech on the topic Soft skills for professional Excellence. He instructed the students how to develop their innovations,creativity, skill sets and leadership qualities. He also emphasised the students how to become a better engineer to get better placement in future. He gave more training to think and how to answer the questions in competitive examination in the present days and in future. He ended his lecture by advising the students to invest their time in a proper way and become a bright engineer in future. The attended students response were very good in their feedbacks. Our principal Dr.S.Umameheswaran handed over momento to the Guest.

IET Kanyakumari Local Network Awards function held on 24th september 2017 at Mahinra club Resorts,Poovar ,Thiruvanandapuram. Mr.V.Kumarasamy AP/EEE Vickram college of Engineering got IET KKLN Outstanding Volunteer Award 2017.

A relevant and awesome lecture session on “Nano materials and nano technology” was handled by Dr.Jayavel, Director of Department of Nano Science and Technology, Anna University, Chennai for the students of Vickram College of Engineering on 4th september 2017. He said that the world governed by nano’s require a deep knowledge in nano science. The future belongs to those persons unravelling the bit and bytes of the materials and nano science. His vivid explanation of the techniques of micro- and nano-lithography and etching received excellent response from the students. He also highlighted some of the current applications of nanotechnology as well as those that can reasonably forecast. Nanotechnology combines solid state physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, biochemistry and biophysics, and materials science. In order to understand the unusual world of nanotechnology, he also gave an idea of the units of measure involved. It is a highly interdisciplinary as it involves ideas integrated from many traditional discipline. The programme has been a grand success due to the seminal talk delivered by our chief guests and the rapt attention exhibited by our students. This has been a real milestone in the annals of the science in creating a new brave India for 2020 as envisioned by our Former President Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam.

Dr. Jayavel, Research Director, Center for Research, Anna University, Chennai gave a lecture on Research Methodology for the faculties of Vickram College of Engineering on 4th september 2017. He started with a short introduction about Anna University, Chennai and various researches carried over by them. He added that Anna University stands 5^th among other universities in case of research publications. Among many disciplines, publications in Environmental science and Engineering tops first. He gave an overview on the significance of research and the quality publications. Literature study plays a vital role in identifying the gap and carrying out the research. Research should be beneficial to the society and cost-effective. He briefed the research design stages which includes selection of problem, conceptual clarity, methodology, literature collection, bibliography, collection of data, testing, interpretation of the result and report writing. He asked the researchers to publish their works in the nonpaid journals rather than paid one. Plagiarism needs to be checked before publication. He has listed the available plagiarism checker in the internet. He concluded by wishing the research scholars and doctorates for their contribution towards research. Mr.Weslin, Department of Computer Science Engineering,delivered the vote of thanks.
