ALL INDIA SEMINAR ON INDUSTRIAL WASTE MANAGEMENT IN INDIA

Vickram College of Engineering in association with The Institution of Engineers, Madurai Local Centre organised a 2-day All India Seminar on Industrial Waste Management in India on 3rd and 4th August 2017. The program began with invocation. Dr.S.NAGARAJAN, Principal, Vickram College of Engineering welcomed the gathering. Er.K.VIJAYAKUMAR, Chairman, IEI, Madurai Local Centre delivered the presidential address. Mr.J.Samuel, Secretary, IEI, Madurai Local Centre gave the felicitation address and introduced the theme of the seminar. Dr.S.NAGARAJAN, Principal, Vickram College of Engineering honoured the dignitaries. Dr.R.Vasudevan, Professor& Dean(Extra – Curricular Activities), Department of Chemistry, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai delivered the inaugural address. And the program was adjourned for Technical activities.

 

Dr.R.Vasudevan, Professor& Dean(Extra – Curricular Activities), Department of Chemistry, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, gave a detailed lecture on the topic, 'Industrial Waste Management'. He gave an idea to the students how to select an appropriate research which should be Bio- friendly, Bio Minicry, Socially relevant and environmentally helpful then it will give recognition and satisfaction to the researcher. He explained about the importance and need of chambers to burn the waste products to avoid toxic gases. He said that nature provides for a person's need not for his greed and he also said by 2050 nature will be replaced by waste created by man by polluting air, water, atmosphere, land and light. He also explained about three philosophies like, industrial philosophy, domestic philosophy and domestic philosophy towards industrial waste. He gave a picture about the waste that is contributed everyday and advised the students to go green and come green. He also advised then to Re-look the three important R's that is Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. He explained about waste materials and their end uses by giving a clear picture about plastic roads. He concluded his lecture by encouraging the students to become smart people by creating smart organisations by preferring Eco friendly materials.

 

And in the next session Dr.M.Vijayalakshmi, Professor & Head, Fathima Michael College of Engineering and Technology spoke on the topic 'Granite Waste'. She said that waste is unwanted or useless solid materials generated from combined residential, industrial and commercial activities in a area. And also she categorised the domestic, industrial and commercial waste. She gave a clear picture about the amount of waste created in Indian cities per day. She explained about waste minimization technology by adding more emphasis on 4 R's that is Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover. She conclude by describing about the classification of industrial waste according to human health.

 

The second day program started with the technical session. Mr.B.Sadishbabu, General Manager, M/s Clar Aqua(P) Ltd, Chennai gave a detailed lecture on Solid & liquid waste management industrial water effluent. He explained about solid and liquid wastes in general and briefed about Hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste. He gave a detailed picture about General treatment plant and Effluent treatment plant and also explained about their primary, secondary and tertiary treatment with reference to Total suspended solid and Total Dissolved solids. He also explained about Ultra filtration membrane, single and multi effect evaporation and also about sewage treatment plant.

 

The afternoon session started with Paper Presentation and Model Presentation. The technical sessions were adjourned for the valedictory function. Dr.S.NAGARAJAN, Principal, Vickram College of Engineering gave the valedictory address. The program ended with the vote of thanks and with the national anthem.

12th Graduation Day Celebration

Vickram College of Engineering organized its 12th Graduation Day at the college premises on 29th July 2017, for the graduates who passed out during the academic year 2012-2016. The program started with the academic procession of the dignitaries. The ceremony started with invocation. The Chairman & Founder Mr. M.K.S Sreenivasan declared the graduation day open. Dr. Nagarajan, the Principal, Vickram College of Engineering welcomed the guests and introduced the chief guests to the gathering and warmly congratulated the graduates for their achievements and gave a detailed report of the college. The Chairman & Founder Mr. M.K.S Sreenivasan delivered the presidential address. In his presidential address, he congratulated the graduates on becoming professionals and urged them to do justice to their profession. He also said that the fresh graduates are the brand ambassadors of the institute and urged them to know the technological world in real time and help the present students of the institute in finding training and placement. He also said that getting a degree is a milestone in life. He also encouraged the students to grab the opportunity that come on their way and use it as a ladder to climb great heights.

 

The chief guest Mr.K.Govindarajan, Global Head-Administration, Intellect Design Arena Ltd.,(Polaris), Chennai delivered the chief guest address. He insisted the graduates that age is not a limit for anything and so he encouraged them to be energetic always. He also said that getting a degree is a land mark in a persons life because that is the first success anyone receives. The second landmark is getting a job which is very easy nowadays but to remain in the same position a person has to run. Proper value system, Integrity and hard work will help a person to become successful. He also encouraged the graduates to be like a empty cup- with a positive mindset to learn new things. And he also advised them to develop multiple skills which along with education will make a man successful.

 

Mr.R.Rudra Kumar, Chatered Accountant and management Consultant, Chennai and Dr.Subbhasomu, Director, Tamil Nadu Ware Housing Corp.Ltd,. Govt. of Tamil Nadu are the Guest of Honour. Mr.R.Rudra Kumar on his special address congratulated the graduates on achieving a milestone in life as it establishes one as a successful person. And he encouraged the graduates to be ready to face the challenges that are ahead in ones life. He also insisted that life is not a bed of roses but its filled with disappointments and to overcome that one should develop efficiency, Sincerity, hardwork and integrity. He also said that degree gives a job but only efficiency will make a person successful. He also encouraged the graduates to become entrepreneurs and to give jobs to many unemployed. Dr.Subbhasomu, Director, Tamil Nadu Ware Housing Corp.Ltd,. Govt. of Tamil Nadu on his special address said that Nothing is impossible for a man who believes in himself. And he encouraged the graduates to throw away all the questions and negatives from their life. He also said that good company of friends and belief in God with hardwork will bring success.

 

The candidates were presented to the principal by the Head of the Departments for the award of degree. Graduates who passed out during the academic year 2012 -16 received their graduation certificates from the chief guest. After all the Graduates received their degrees, Mr.Weslin presented “In absentia” to the principal. The prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest and he also presented gold medals to the branch toppers. The candidates stood up for the pledge and as the principal read out the candidates repeated. As the proceedings concluded, the principal dissolved the graduation day ceremony. And the program ended with the National Anthem. The function concluded with the academic march – off.

IETKKLN GUEST-LECTURE ON IOT TALK & XCCELERATOR PLATFORM

Vickram College of Engineering organized a Guest Lectureon “IOT TALK & XCCELERATOR PLATFORM” in collaboration with IET inourcampusonMarch29th ,2017.The program began with invocation. Mr.V.Kumarasamy welcomed the gathering and gave a brief account on IET. Mr.Vishal sivakumar II Mech welcomed and introduced the chief guest. Mr.Aniruddha kannal CEO of HED -X,Bangalore,submitted the chief guest address on the topic IOT TALK& XCCELERATOR PLATFORM. He stressed more on IOT which will help the students to explore new horizons and instructed the students to develop their subject knowledge, skill sets and attitude. He also emphasised the students to take up mini projects and projects, listen to online lectures and also to meet industrial experts to become a better engineer in future. He also quoted on IOT-Internet of Things, connected with the things.  He explained smart city on line services, autonomous,Time saving,efficient,combination of compact  and availability, Description making.learning and relearning. He ended his lecture by advising the students to invest their time in a proper way. Dr. Nagarajan, the Principal, Vickram College of Engineering gave momento to the chief Guest.Mr.Kodeeswaran 3RD EEE compering and welcome address addressed by Mr.Vishal sivakumar 2nd Mech,chief Guest introduction  by Mr.Vembarasu 3rd ECE . Mr.Vishnu prasanna 3rd civil delivered the vote of thanks.

16th College Day Celebrations!

Vickram College of Engineering celebrated its 16th Sports and College day on 18th March, 2017. The program started with invocation. Dr.S.Nagarajan, the Principal, Vickram College of Engineering gave the welcome address and submitted the annual report. Shri.M.K.S.Sreenivasan, Chairman, Vickram College of Engineering delivered the presidential address and he honoured the dignitaries. He illustrated an incident to stress about the involvement of work without any age limitations. He insisted the students to acquire job through learning various skills. He advised the faculties and students to update themselves with new techniques and technology. Moreover he congratulated the final year students for the successful completion of their degree program.

Dr.Subbha Somu, Member, Tamilnadu Ware Housing Corporation Ltd.,Chennai gave the felicitation address. He motivated the students to break all the odds and hindrances to achieve their dreams. He appreciated the Chairman Shri.M.K.S.Sreenivasan for his vision and his service in the field of education. Coming from a poor economical background is never a barrier to education and so he encouraged the students to dream and to work hard to make that dream come true. He advised the students to cultivate positive thinking and also emphasised on self-discipline and obedience, which will mould a person into a better human being.

Dr.S.G.Balamurugan, Surgical Oncologist, Chairman, Guru Hospitals, Madurai delivered the felicitation address. He explained the students how to study with a positive attitude. And encouraged the students to gain more knowledge about the field of their interest. He explained about the diseases which has become a threat to the society recently. He said that obesity is the main reason behind all health issues and so encouraged the students to exercise regularly and keep them fit.

Shri. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Madurai gave a special address to the students. He questioned the students what they want to become in life and he encouraged the students to select the subject of their study wisely. He also said there is a purpose behind all the subjects. Everything is possible which depends upon the right attitude and students should participate in nation building by indulging in various social activities though there are many conflicts and isms in the nation. A students should work hard to break the prejudices in the society and he advised the students to take Gandhiji and Ambedhkar as their role models. He said the society needs many changes and only an educated person can bring the change and the educated person is the one who humbles himself. He encouraged the students to look after our country which is the purpose of every citizen and he explained that from Geetanjali. He explained two tools to achieve anything in life they are devotion in ones duty and avoiding conflicts.

Prof.A.P.Dash, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor, Central University of Tamilnadu, Tiruvarur was the chief guest of the day. He said India has huge opportunities for the future Engineers which also includes a lot of Challenges. He explained about the Engineer dharma where it has lot of challenges and hurdles and in the end awaits victory. He spoke about the advancement of technology which has made life easy with sophisticated gadgets. He insisted on the quality education, only quality education can bring the change in the society. He explained very clearly who is an Engineer? An engineer is a person who offers technical solution to all the problems in the society. He advised the youths not to seek jobs from oversees but to invite patriotism and live in our country to provide services to the technological revolution in society. He spoke on Solar energy, which is an ultimate energy source and in 2030 the world with witness all the vehicle running in solar energy. World suffers from energy crisis and has to be tackled technically with innovative techniques and inventions which only an Engineer can do. He insisted on nine significant qualities said by Kalam which is very important to be a successful engineer. (i) Determination to work with commitment, (ii) to exhibit with innovative method (iii) Not to waste time (iv) live with a vision(v) Learn from teachers and books (vi) become the captain of the problem (vii) Work hard to remove the problems (viii) Work (ix) The National flag is your life. And he distributed the sports and college day prizes.

Shri.SR.Vijayshrenivas, Director, Vickram College of Engineering delivered the vote of thanks and the program ended with the National Anthem.
