16th College Day Celebrations!

Vickram College of Engineering celebrated its 16th Sports and College day on 18th March, 2017. The program started with invocation. Dr.S.Nagarajan, the Principal, Vickram College of Engineering gave the welcome address and submitted the annual report. Shri.M.K.S.Sreenivasan, Chairman, Vickram College of Engineering delivered the presidential address and he honoured the dignitaries. He illustrated an incident to stress about the involvement of work without any age limitations. He insisted the students to acquire job through learning various skills. He advised the faculties and students to update themselves with new techniques and technology. Moreover he congratulated the final year students for the successful completion of their degree program.

Dr.Subbha Somu, Member, Tamilnadu Ware Housing Corporation Ltd.,Chennai gave the felicitation address. He motivated the students to break all the odds and hindrances to achieve their dreams. He appreciated the Chairman Shri.M.K.S.Sreenivasan for his vision and his service in the field of education. Coming from a poor economical background is never a barrier to education and so he encouraged the students to dream and to work hard to make that dream come true. He advised the students to cultivate positive thinking and also emphasised on self-discipline and obedience, which will mould a person into a better human being.

Dr.S.G.Balamurugan, Surgical Oncologist, Chairman, Guru Hospitals, Madurai delivered the felicitation address. He explained the students how to study with a positive attitude. And encouraged the students to gain more knowledge about the field of their interest. He explained about the diseases which has become a threat to the society recently. He said that obesity is the main reason behind all health issues and so encouraged the students to exercise regularly and keep them fit.

Shri. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Madurai gave a special address to the students. He questioned the students what they want to become in life and he encouraged the students to select the subject of their study wisely. He also said there is a purpose behind all the subjects. Everything is possible which depends upon the right attitude and students should participate in nation building by indulging in various social activities though there are many conflicts and isms in the nation. A students should work hard to break the prejudices in the society and he advised the students to take Gandhiji and Ambedhkar as their role models. He said the society needs many changes and only an educated person can bring the change and the educated person is the one who humbles himself. He encouraged the students to look after our country which is the purpose of every citizen and he explained that from Geetanjali. He explained two tools to achieve anything in life they are devotion in ones duty and avoiding conflicts.

Prof.A.P.Dash, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor, Central University of Tamilnadu, Tiruvarur was the chief guest of the day. He said India has huge opportunities for the future Engineers which also includes a lot of Challenges. He explained about the Engineer dharma where it has lot of challenges and hurdles and in the end awaits victory. He spoke about the advancement of technology which has made life easy with sophisticated gadgets. He insisted on the quality education, only quality education can bring the change in the society. He explained very clearly who is an Engineer? An engineer is a person who offers technical solution to all the problems in the society. He advised the youths not to seek jobs from oversees but to invite patriotism and live in our country to provide services to the technological revolution in society. He spoke on Solar energy, which is an ultimate energy source and in 2030 the world with witness all the vehicle running in solar energy. World suffers from energy crisis and has to be tackled technically with innovative techniques and inventions which only an Engineer can do. He insisted on nine significant qualities said by Kalam which is very important to be a successful engineer. (i) Determination to work with commitment, (ii) to exhibit with innovative method (iii) Not to waste time (iv) live with a vision(v) Learn from teachers and books (vi) become the captain of the problem (vii) Work hard to remove the problems (viii) Work (ix) The National flag is your life. And he distributed the sports and college day prizes.

Shri.SR.Vijayshrenivas, Director, Vickram College of Engineering delivered the vote of thanks and the program ended with the National Anthem.
