The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering invites you to attend IEI sponsored All INDIA SEMINAR ON RECENT TRENDS IN WIRELESS AND MOBILE TECHNOLOGIES on 4 th & 5 th MARCH 2016 at Ramanujam Conference Hall from 9.30 A.M. to 4.30 P.M.

The Two-day seminar will cover Architectures , protocols and algorithms of mobile and wireless networks,Design and Evaluation of Wireless Technologies, Traffic and Network modelling in wireless and mobile networks.

Faculty interaction with Entrepreneur & Alumni Mr.Sindhya Peter

Faculty interaction with an expert in the field of Android and iOS app developmentAlumni and entrepreneur Mr.Sindhya Peter, Lead Developer, NexHop, Bangalore was organised on 6th Jan 2016. The interaction gave many ideas about how Apps development offer an unlimited number of business building opportunities, and how we can take advantage of them. He also discussed about the ecommerce project launched by his company.All in all the interactive session was very useful to the faculty.

MoU with 3G Electronic Engineering Services, Singapore

Faculty interaction with an expert in the field of Robotics and PLC – Alumni and entrepreneur Mr.Jerald Francis Suresh, Director, 3G Electronic Engineering Services, Singapore was organised on 28th May 2015. The interaction gave many ideas about implementation to motivate, mentor and support Engineering research activities and translate innovative ideas to prototypes. Pooling the resources available in institution and industry to undertake research and development projects were also discussed.All in all the interactive session was very useful to the faculty.

Also Department of ECE has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with  3G Electronic Engineering Services, Singapore  for mutual exchange of Information and Technological know- how, joint collaborative work in R&D projects and internships.

The signing ceremony was done at VCE in the presence of the officials from VCE and 3G Electronic Engineering Services . For the signing of the MoU, VCE was represented by its Director Mr.Vijay Srinivas while 3G Electronic Engineering Services was represented by its Director Mr.Jerald Francis Suresh.

Interaction with Successful Alumni

The career path of any student is as unique as the individual.More than 60 students at Department of ECE had the opportunity to hear about different paths to success from a variety of students on 27th May 2015, Wednesday.Ms.K.Priyanka(2011-2015 Batch ECE) was the first to interact with the group .She advised the students to work on their resume with complete details and be prepared to answer any questions pertaining to what has been claimed in it.Ms.Vigneshwari (2011-2015 Batch ECE) and Mr.Sudharsan(2011-2015 Batch CSE) shared their experience on preparations for competitive exams, and HR & Technical interviews.

Students learnt that the key traits of hard work, passion, courage, persistence, deep relationships and authenticity were the root cause of one's success.

Training on Embedded Systems using INTEL ATOM Processor for 2012-2016 Batch ECE students

The Department of ECE organises Two days training on "Embedded systems using INTEL ATOM Processor" for 2012-2016 Batch ECE students  from 26.5.15 to 29.5.15 in two batches.

Batch I-Roll.No 1-33(26.5.15 & 27.5.15)

Batch II-Roll.No 34-66 (28.5.15 & 29.5.15)

The workshop will cover the concepts of 8051 microcontroller and ATOM processor, along with hands-on training.Details of the training are:

DAY 1:

* Pretest on Microprocessors,microcontrollers and ATOM processor

*Basic Linux Commands

*Hands on training on Linux commands

*Introduction to Embedded keil C tool

*Hands on training on Embedded systems ( 8051)- LED and LCD interfacing

DAY 2:

* Hands on training on Embedded systems(8051) -Water level indicator,Traffic light controller,DC motor control,Stepper motor control

* Device interfacing(INTEL ATOM Processor)-Display board,Analog sensor board,GPIO board

* Final Test

Venue:  INTEL Intelligent Systems Lab & Embedded lab, SivaSubramanian Block.

Report on Guest Lecture by Prof.Kevin Paulson,University of Hull,UK

 

 

On 19th February 2015, Department of ECE,EEE and Mechanical students had the privilege of having yet another interactive session with Prof.Kevin Paulson, Department of Engineering, University of Hull, UK. Prof Kevin spoke on “Recent Issues in Telecommunication and the effect of climate change on Microwaves”. Dr.S.Nagarajan, Principal presided over the function,Ms.S.Muthumala AP/ECE welcomed the gathering and introduced the speaker of the day.

The lecture commenced with familiarisation of the University of Hull, its location and its importance. Dr.Kevin then elaborated the basics of analog communication systems. He briefly explained the Cognitive Radio system with an interesting analogy of Indian traffic system. He shared his rich experience on channel capacity, signal to noise ratio, bandwidth and their constraints. He exhaustively dwelled on the fade margin requirement of different types of Microwave systems. He familiarised the students with the adverse effect of climatic changes on the fade margin. He also inspired the audience with his scholarly work on RFID.

Around 200 students attended the lecture and Mr.M.S.Vikram , Joint Secretary presented a Memento to the guest speaker and Mr.Kumarasamy,AP/EEE proposed vote of thanks.
