The inauguration of Intel Intelligent Systems Lab, and Workshop on Embedded Systems were organised on 17^th and 18^th January, 2014. The welcome address was given by Dr.T.Arivoli, Head, Dept.of ECE. Twenty five faculty members from Department of ECE, EEE, CSE participated in this programme.

The resource person Mr. Sivaprasad Yadav, FICE, Banglore presented his views on various applications and importance of embedded systems. The lecture was followed by opening of the Intel Intelligent Systems laboratory by Prof. Rajaram, Dean, Dept. of CSE, in the presence of the Director Mr. SR.Vijay Shrenivas, Joint Secretary. Mr. MS. Vikram, and Principal, Dr. S. Nagarajan.

The Foundation for Innovation and Collaborative Education (FICE) is a non-profitable organization, which has worked with Intel and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore to create an Embedded Systems laboratory package using ATOM processor to be established in engineering colleges. These laboratories are branded as Intel Intelligent System Lab. In collaboration with FICE, the College  has set up one such lab in Dept. of ECE of the college.

A Guest lecture on “ Antenna and wave Propagation” will be delivered by Dr.B.MANIMEGALAI, Assistant Professor, Thiagarajar College of Engineering at Vikram Sarabhai Hall on 9th January (Thursday), 2014 at 9.30 am for third year ECE students. In view of this, regular classes scheduled at that time stand cancelled.

Congratulations to III year ECE student R.Bharath who won the Best Performer Award at the  IET SEISCON 2013, International Conference on Sustainable Energy and Intelligent System,  held at KCG college of Engineering and Technology Chennai from 14th Dec'13 to 16th Dec'13.

He Presented a paper titled "Performance analysis of face recognition using state-of-the art approaches" under the guidance of Asst.Prof.M.Parisa Beham. The paper is Published in IET inspec Digital library

Ms.K.Priyanka of III ECE was confered Dr.Rajendra Prasad organiser award under Category A: IET Student member - Chapter focused award 2013 by IET  young professionals section,  Chennai local network. Wishing her  many more laurels!!

Mr.R.Robin Richard , 2009-2013 batch  student of ECE, interacted with the current final year ECE students on 16.9.13 at 3.00 p.m. He is presently working with ZOHO, Tenkasi, as a Technical staff. He shared his experience of attending various interviews, and the skills that were required to make him employable in the best way etc. The session was very interactive and it provided very useful inputs to the students with respect to placement.

Ms.C.Nagalakshmi and Ms.P.Lavanya  of IV year ECE won First Prize in paper presentation in National level technical symposium "E-BLAST 13" held at Kings College of Engineering on 14th Sep'13.

Title of the paper:Achieving Network level privacy in wireless sensor Network.

A guest lecture by Dr.Usha Ramanathan, Senior lecturer, University of Bedfordshire, United Kingdom was arranged for the final year ECE students on 27th July'13 at Vikram Sarabai Hall. Dr. Usha spoke on the  'Role of EPOS (Electronic Point of Sales) in UK Retail Sales". She covered topics like Supply Chain (SC) collaboration with case study, Role of information exchange among SC in demand forecasting with some key findings and suggestion. Ms.Priyanka Vasan of final year ECE  proposed the vote of thanks.
