Anna University of Technology,Madurai organised Athletic events at PSNA College of Engineering, Dindigul from 11-3-11 to 12-3-11 for its affiliated colleges. The athletes of the college represented extraordinary skills and won eight prizes in different events. P. Subash Chandra Bose of First Year Mechanical Engineering secured First Place in 100 mts, 200mts, Long Jump and Triple Jump. He also secured 4th place in Long Jump in TIES-2011. On the other hand K. Muthu Bharathi of First Year Mechanical Engineering secured Second Place in Triple Jump, III Place in Long Jump and II Place in 200 mts. Our college relay team secured Second Place in the 4x100 relay event. The Management, Principal and the Department of Physical Education congratulates the winners for their outstanding performance and wish them to come out of flying colours in their future endeavours too.
Anna University of Technology, Madurai organised Football Tournament for its affiliated colleges between 7th March and 9th March,2011 at RVS College of Engineering, Dindigul. The college Football team played the Finals against MSEC, Kilakarai and emerged victorious by scoring the goals 2-0. M. Prakash and K.VijayaKumar scored one goal each to see the team sail through the path of victory. The Management, Principal and the Department of Physical Education express their hearty wishes to the winners.
District level football tournament was held at Sivaganga district sports stadium on 8-1-11. The final match was played against Sivaganga Friends were the college football team were victorious on the score of 2-0. The Management, Principal and the Department of Physical Education wish them for their greater heights.
IPAA Table Tennis Madurai Division Tournament for women was held between 7th January to 9thJanuary, 2011 at Tamilnadu Polytechnic College, Madurai. Vickram Polytechnic College Women's Team were victorious beating the host 3-2.
In the Chess Competition the Polytechnic women team registered their victory again. The Management, Principal and staff congratulates the winners.
Anna University Inter-Collegiate Basketball Tournament for men was held on 4th February, 2011. 10 colleges participated in this tournament.The Chairman Mr. M.K.S Sreenivasan, inaugurated the basketball court, which is set as per the existing rules of the basketball game. After that he had the formal introduction of the team and encouraged the players to play the game with sportsman spirit. After the league matches the semi-final matches were played.The first Semi-Final match was played between Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Fathima Michael College of Engineering in which Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering won the game. The second Semi-Final was played between Mohammed Sathak College of Engineering and PSNA, Dindigul in which PSNA, Dindigul was victorious.
The Valedictory Function was held in the afternoon presided by the Director - Mr. SR. Vijayshrenivas. Mr. M. Ezhil Arasan, Senior Lecturer, Department of Training and Placement, welcomed the gathering. In a special addres Mr. Francis, Sports Co-ordinator of Anna University Madurai, appreciated the efforts taken by the Management for conducting the event in a short span of time.
In the finals PSNA, Dindigul beat Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering convincingly. ANNA UNIVERSITY INTER-COLLEGIATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT-2011 was won by PSNA, Dindigul. Winning trophy, merit certificates and medals were given by the Joint Secretary Mr. M.S Vikram. Runners up trophy was given by the Secretary Mr. M.SR. Rajsantosh. The programme came to the end with the vote of thanks proposed by the Dean - Prof.M.Palanikumar.He appreciated the Physical Education Department for conducting the event successfully.
Department of Physical Education is happy to inform that the College Cricket team is the proud winner of SHRI VANCHINATHA DIKSHITHAR ROLLING TROPHY. This State Level Cricket tournament was held between 27th January,2011 and 30th January, 2011 at Sudharsan College of Engineering, Pudukkottai. The players exhibited extrordinary team spirit and skills to reach to the finals and ultimately winning the trophy.
A. Mohamed Anwar Sathath of the Final year Civil won the Man of the Seriestrophy. The award included the rolling trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5000/-. The Management, Principal and the Department of Physical Education and the other teaching staff wish them all the best for the future matches to come.
7th Vickram Football Championship for schools at district level was held at the College football ground between 18th and 19th January, 2011. 16 schools participated from various districts of Tamilnadu. The inaugural function was held on 18th January, 2011 presided by the Chairman, Mr. M.K.S Sreenivasan. The Chief-Guest of the function was Mr. Ramesh- a successful industrialist from Sri-Lanka. The Chairman welcomed the gathering and encouraged the players to play the game with sportsman spirit and stressed upon the need to involve oneself in sports activities for keeping oneself physically, mentally and socially fit. After the conventional kick-Start of the ball by the Chief-Guest and the Chairman, the tournament started with the full swing.
Valedictory Function was held on 19th January, 2011. Mr. M. Raja Rathinam, President, District Congress Committee, Sivagangai was the Chief-Guest for the function. The Principal , Dr. S. Kathirrvelu welcomed the gathering. The presidential address was given by the Chairman. In his speech, he appreciated the efforts taken by the Physical Education Department for conducting the event successfully. The Chief-Guest Mr. M. Raja Rathinam congratulated the players and encouraged them to be “Jack of all trades.” Final match was played between Subaiah Ambalam Matric School, Karaikudi and Savithabai Matric School, Madurai.
VICKRAM FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP FOR SCHOOLS-2011 was won by Subaiah Ambalam Matric & HSS karaikudi which was trained by the former Indian Football Player Mr.Rajamanikam. The Chief-Guest Mr. M. Raja Rathinam awarded the rolling trophy, Cash prize of Rs.2500, merit certificate and medals to the winning team. Runners-up trophy, cash prize of Rs.1500, merit certificate and medals were given to Savithabai Matric School, Madurai by the Chairman. Mr. M.S Vickram, Joint Secretary of the college awarded Cash prize of Rs. 1000, merit certeficate and medals to Keren Matric and Higher Secondary School, Madurai for securing third place in the tournament. A cash prize of Rs.1000 was given to the Player of the Tournament which was bagged by M.Benjamin of Keren Matric & HSS, Madurai. The programme came to the end with the vote of thanks proposed by the Dean, Prof. M. Palanikumar.
"Sri Sornam Memorial Volleyball championship for schools -2010" was organized in the college premises on 27th and 28th october, 2010. In this State Level Inter School Volleyball Tournament 16 teams from various districts namely Sivaganga, Madurai,Virudhunagar, Dindugul were in the competitiion for lifting prestigious Santhosh Trophy 2010. The Chairman, Secretary, Dean, Principal, and Administrative Officer initiated the proceedings of the tournament. In the first Semi-Final match E.B.G Matric Higher secondary school, Madurai beat St.Britto Higher Secondary School, Madurai in the deciding set. In the second Semi-Finals Mangayarkarasi Higher Secondary School, Madurai beat RC Higher Secondary School, Karaikudi. St.Britto Higher Secondary School, Madurai stood third and RC Higher Secondary School, Karaikudi stood fourth in this competition.
In the Final match Mangayarkarasi Higher Secondary school, Madurai beat E.B.G Matric Higher Secondary School, Madurai in the deciding set. The valedictory function was conducted on 28th october, 2010 which was presided by the Chairman. M.SR. Rajsanthosh, Secretary awarded Santhosh Trophy-2010 and a cash prize of Rs. 5000 to Mangayarkarasi Higher Secondary School, Madurai Winners of Sri Sornam Memorial Volleyball Championship for Schools-2010. Mr. M.K.S. Sreenivasan, Chairman handed over the Runners-up rolling trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 3000 to E.B.G. Matric Higher Secondary School, Madurai. Cash Prize of Rs. 2000 was awarded St.Britto Higher Secondary School, Madurai by the Dean. Principal, Dr.S.Kathirrvelu handed over the cash prize of Rs. 1000 to RC Higher Secondary School, Karaikudi for securing fourth place in the tournament. N.Vigneshwaran of E.B.G Higher Secondary School Madurai was awarded the Player of the tournament.
Under the able guidance of Mr.S.R. VijayShrenivas, Director and Mr.M.S. Vikram, Joint Secretary and the coordination of the Principal, Dean and Administrative Officer and the team work of the Physical Education Department the event came to successful end.
P.Sureshkumar of Third year EEE is going to play for Anna University of Technology, Trichy cricket team in the South Zone Inter University Cricket tournament to be held at Kakatiya University, Warangal Andhra Pradesh. This tournament will be held between 25-10-10 to 03-11-10. The Management, Principal and Physical Directors wish him best of luck.
