A-2 day State level Volley ball tournament for schools was held on 15th and 16th October2012. 12 team of various schools actively participated in it with full vigor. Dr.S.Kathirrvelu , principal inagural this tournament following which the preliminary level match began between teams. At the end of day one Mangyarkarasi Hr.Sec.School, Govt.Hr.Sec. School Palamedu, Sivakasi Nadar Mat. Hr. Sec. School and NSMPVS devakkottai were qualified for the semi-final match was held on 16th october 2012.

Mangayarkarasi bagged the VIckram trophy with ease a cash award of Rs:2500 along with the winners trophy was presented to them. Nsmpvs took its runners up trophy with a cash prize of Rs:2000 GOvt.Hr.Sec.School Plamedu who secured third was offers with a cash prize of Rs:1000. Mangayarkarasi emerges victorious for the third consecutive year .

The valedictory function with the presence of Mr.M.S.Vikram Joint Secretary. The most thrilling Championship tournament came to a fine closure with the support of Dr.S.Kathirrvelu, Principal and Prof.S.Nagarajan, Administrative Officer and the team work of the Physical Education department who were a part of the valedictory ceremony too.

     Anna University of Chennai zone 16th athletic meet was held at KLN College of engineering,Pottapalayam from 11th to 13th October 2012. Around 200 participants of various colleges enthusiastically took part in this event.

       Our athlete P.Subash Chandra Bose of IIIrd Year Mechanical Engineering received 2 Silver Medals (100mtrs Sprint and Long Jump) and M.Praksh of IV year Year Mechanical Engineering received one Bronze Medal in Discuss throw. Our athletic team S. Ramkumar (IV ECE), P.Subash Chandra Bose (IIIrd Mech), K.Muthu Bharathi (IIIrd Mech) and R.Bharath (IInd ECE) secured Third prize in 4X100 mtrs relay race.

We hosted The Anna University, Chennai, XVI Inter – Collegiate Basket Ball Tournament from 04.09.12 to 06.09.12. A total of 11 vibrant teams from various colleges participated with remarkable zeal. The tournament was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. S. Kathirrvelu and the Administrative Officer Prof. S.Nagarajan.

The following teams competed with each other in the Semi – Finals:

(i) Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology vs K.L.N College of Information Technology.

(ii) K.L.N. College of Engineering vs Shanmuganathan College of Engineering.

    After facing a serious of tough matches,Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi emerged as Winners defeating K.L.N. College of Engineering, Madurai. Shanmuganathan College of Engineering, Pudukottai came third.

    Mr. M. S. Vikram, Joint Secretary, presented the prestigious trophy to the participants. Principal Dr. S. Kathirrvelu and the Administrative Officer Prof. S. Nagarajan, shared the dais with the other dignitaries to cheer up the participants. The Department of Physical Education takes pride in conducting the event successfully.

Anna University Zone XVI Inter – Collegiate Cricket Tournament was held from 11th to 15th September at K.L.N. College of Information Technology, Pottapalayam. After facing a series of challenging matches with 27 competent teams, Vickram College of Engineering, grasped the vivid opportunity of stepping into the semi – finals with Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi.By being Victorious in semi – finals, players of Vickram College of Engineering entered the most covetous final round with Mount Zion College of Engineering and emerged gloriously as the winners of the tournament. The following players are in limelight as leading wicket takers  Jeya Prakash of IV EEE,      Kumaresan of II Civil. This is yet another proud occasion for the Management, Staff Members and Students of the college ,who extend their warm words of appreciation to the laurel – winners.

KLN College of Engineering organised an Anna University Chennai Inter-Zonal Swimming Competition -2012 in Madurai corporation swimming pool, Madurai from 10th to 12th september 2012. They have conducted many event with more than 150 participants from various engineering colleges. We are very happy and proud that Ms.R.Divyasri of IInd year civil won 3 silver medals in the following events.  

1. 100mtrs Breast Stroke

2. 50 mtrs Breast Stroke

3. 100 mtrs Butterfly

    IPAA Polytechnic Inter-Collegiate Basketball Tournament for men was held at Vickram Polytechnic College on 9thAugust, 2012. Six colleges participated in this tournament. Mrs. Rengabai, Principal, Vickram Polytechnic College had the formal introduction of the team and encouraged the players to play the game with sportsman spirit.. After the league matches the semi-final matches were played.The first Semi-Final match was played between MAVMM Polytechnic College and Theni Kammavar Polytechnic College in which Mavmm Polytechnic College won the game. The second Semi-Final was played between Mohammed Sathak Polytechnic College and Vickram Polytechnic College in which Mohammed Sathak Polytechnic College was victorious.

     The Valedictory Function was held in the afternoon presided by the Joint secretary, Mr. M.S. Vikram, Mrs. Rengabai, Principal, Vickram Polytechnic College, welcomed the gathering.

    In the final MAVMM Polytechnic College beat Mohammed Sathak Polytechnic College convincingly to win the IPAA POLYTECHNIC INTER-COLLEGIATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT-2012. The Joint Secretary Mr. M.S Vickram gave the trophy and the prizes to the winners. Mrs. Rengabai, Principal, Vickram Polytechnic College gave the prizes to the runners up. The programme came to the end with the vote of thanks proposed by the Dean of the college, Prof. M.Panneer Selvam. He appreciated the Physical Education Department of the college for conducting the event successfully.

     The football team of our college exhibitted their skillful edge at the Don-Bosco Inter-Collegiate Football tournament 2012 conducted by the Don-Bosco ITI, Pudhur, Madurai from 09-08-12 to 11-08-12. Our team entered into the quarter final by defeating PSYCE (5-0) convincingly to meet KLNCE in the Semi finals. In the semi-finals Vickramce thrashed KLNCE (5-4) to meet Madura College the finals. The team fought tooth and nail  but lost the game against Madura college.

     The Don - Bosco football tournament trophy was held at Namakkal District in Don-Bosco Anbu Illam, N.Pudhupatti between 27 July '12 and 29 July '12. Out of the four league matches played, Vickramce won two against Don-Bosco, Trichy (2-1) and Bharath Poly Technic; and got qualified to semi-finals. In the semi-finals, Vickramce faced Selvam College. The match led to penalty shot through which Selvam College won the match 4-3.

       Vickramce was awarded with Fair Play and Best Team award. M.Prakash of III CSE received Best Player of tournament  and R. Ganesh of III ECE was honored with the title most number of goal scorer (3) of Vickramce.

'Vickram Chess Championship for Schools-2012' was held in the college premises on 10 July, 2012. In this District Level Inter School Chess Championship, 191 students from 22 schools participated in order to compete for the trophy. In the valedictory function, Principal Dr. S. Kathirrvelu welcomed the gathering. Chairman, Mr. M.K.S Sreenivasan, addressed the group and said that Vickram Schools and Colleges has been organising such events to facilitate wholesome development of the students. He added that today the student community has to excel in all the fields namely education, sports and other cultural activities to become successful in life. He applauded the team work of the Physical Education Department for making this event noteworthy.

The Chairman awarded the prizes in which V. HemaLakshmi, CEOA Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, bagged first prize for Under 15 girls category. In the category of Under 15 Boys, D. Srivathsan, Dolphin school, bagged first prize; whereas P. Prakash from St. Michael Hr. Sec. School secured first position in the above 17 years category. A certificate, trophy and cash prize of Rs 1000, Rs.750 and Rs. 500 was given to the winners of the first, second and third prize respectively. The programme came to the end with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. V.C.S. Immanuel, I Year Dean.
