Inauguration of Rotaract Club on 10th October 09

The Inaugural function of Rotaract Club was held in our campus at 2.30 p.m. on 10th Ocober 2009. After invocation, Rtr. M. Sundar, the Co-ordinator of the Rotaract Club, welcomed the audience. Our Principal Prof. M. Palanikumar presided over the function. The Chief Guest Rtr. R. Prabhu Ram, President, Rotaract Club, Down Town, Madurai, in his keynote address explained that the Rotary Club is a global organization with service as its main motive and Rotaract Club as the youth wing of the Rotary Club.

He highlighted the aims and activities of Rotary and Rotaract Clubs around the world. He called upon the students to get themselves involved in the upliftment of the society – particularly the rural masses. He added that engineering studies should be linked with social development and stressed the need of Engineering education to be relevant, by promoting  the quality of life in our villages. He insisted on the fact that the Technology must make its impact on the rural masses, bring benefits to the village communities, and make the development sustainable. Else, it is lopsided. Our Principal Prof. M. Palanikumar responded that the volunteers of NSS Units of our college get themselves in rural development, through NSS Camps conducted periodically.

The function came to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by Rtr. A. Nagaraj.
