Ms.N.Rajalakshmi, 2008-2012 batch  student of ECE, interacted with the current final year ECE students on 22.7.13 at 11.00 a.m. She is working with Wipro Technologies, Kolkata as Trainee Engineer. She shared her  experience in attending various interviews,  skills required  etc. The session was very  interactive and it provided very useful inputs to the students with respect to placement.

In a National conference ICON'13 held at Dr.Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, Pollachi, on 20th Feb'13 Mr.P.Dhilip Kumar of III ECE 'A'  won First prize in Circuit Designing contest CHIPNALE. He also added one more feather to his cap by winning the first prize of the  event Mr.VIBRANZE13 (Best Manager) in  a symposium held at Mepco Schlenk Engineering College on 13th Feb'13.

Department of ECE organized DRDO sponsored Two-Day National workshop on “Microwave Antenna and Filters-Research Focus” on 7^th and 8^th Feb 2013. Programme was inaugurated with welcome Address by Dr.T.Arivoli, Prof & Head, Dept. of ECE followed by keynote address by Principal Dr.S.Kathirrvelu.There were totally 42 participants - comprising of  Under Graduate and Post Graduate students, and Faculty Members from various colleges .

On the first day, Dr.S.Raghavan, NIT-Trichy was the lead resource person for a detailed session on planar antennas. Dr.S.Raghavan, true to his winning the best teacher award,  provided an excellent overview on Microwaves. He appreciated DRDO and Vickram College of Engineering for undertaking such a  rare venture. He displayed sample pieces of most of the microwave integrated circuits substrates. This session was followed by Dr. R. Rajaram, Dean, Dept of CSE who gave an insight to fundamentals of microwave parameters and  explained it in  a lucid matter. On day two, Dr. A. Thenmozhi of Thiagarajar College of Engineering delivered lecture on Microwave filters. In a short span of 2 hours, she almost brefied the whole spectrum of microwave filter including design of all active filters with many examples. The next session was initiated  by Prof.MS.Krishnan who covered special application antennas in microwave domain. He also explained the scope and issues available for realistic research in Microwave. Later,  Mr.B.S.Madhan  of Tata Consultancy Services, Chennai gave a hands-on training in the design of Patch and Horn antenna using RF simulation tool.

Department of ECE-IEI Student Chapter is organising a Quiz compeition for II and III year ECE students on  31st January 2013 at 2.30pm. Students are encouraged to participate in large numbers to make this event a success.

The Theme of the quiz is General
Questions will be from Current affairs, Sports and Technology.

Rules
A team should consist of two students. Any number of entries are welcome. A second year and a third year student can also participate as a team.

Department of ECE organised Phase I Embedded Systems Training for IV year ECE  students. Training was conducted in 2 batches for 45 students with the duration of 3 days each.

Batch I -11.1.13 to 17.1.13

Batch II - 18.1.13 to 22.1.13

Topics covered includes 8051 Architecture and Embedded C programming.

Hands-on training on many projects using LED, LCD, sensors and DC motor with suitable  interface was conducted. The training also includes automation process using these devices.

Mr.P.Dhilip Kumar and Mr.J.Alexander of III year ECE won second Prize in paper presentation in National level technical symposium "TECHNORIONS 3.0" held at Kalasalingam Institute of Technology on 5th Oct'12.

Title of the paper:Detection of vehicle and its motion in a Traffic video using image processing.

Mr.P.Dhilip Kumar also got over all performance award of the event. Congratulations to the winners!!!
