Department of Electrical and Electronics organized a Guest Lecture on “ Improvement of End use Efficiency” on 20th July, 2015. Programme started with Welcome Address by J.Pavithra of IV Year EEE. The Guest Speaker honoured by Prof.G.Karmegam, Professor / EEE and J.Mohammed Feros Khan, Assist. Prof & Head and Dept. of EEE..
The Guest speaker for this programme Er.C.Kannan working as a Senior Manager,TANGEDCO, Madurai. He gave a detailed explanation about the importance of Conserving the Electrical Energy for our nation as well as the mankind. He explained that 100 units of energy in coal is converted into 40 units of energy as Electricity. And 100 units of Electricity has 3 units transmission losses. Further Distribution losses load losses included. So finally 100 units of energy in coal is nearly converted in to 21 units of which is the ratio of 1 : 5 .

Department of Electrical and Electronics organized a One -Day National workshop “Industrial Safety on Electrical High Voltage System" on 18thOctober, 2014. Programme was inaugurated with Welcome Address by J.Mohammed Feros Khan, Assist. Prof & Head and Dept. of EEE. There were totally 90 participants - comprising of Under Graduate and Faculty Members from various colleges.
The first session was addressed by the Chief Guest Mr.K.Nagarajan Head Manufacturing & SCM, ZF Electronics TVS (India) Private Limited. He gave a detailed explanation about the importance of Safety in working Environment. Students are interacted with him regarding the features and job opportunities available in the field of safety.
Prof.G.Karmegam, Professor / EEE, Vickram College of Engineering discussed the various methods, environment for safety in high voltage industries and in steel industries . The one day Workshop came to a close, with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. V.Kumarasamy, Assistant Professor, Department of EEE.

A 3 days training programme on “INTRODUCTION TO INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS” was conducted at L&T Switchgear training center – Connoor from 10th September '14 to 12th September '14.
Totally 60 participants, 58 students including 2 staff members attended this training.
On 10.09.14 the session starts with a brief introduction about Low Tension switchgear – A device that is a combination of devices primarily intended for the purpose of making, carrying and breaking current in electric circuits under normal as well as abnormal conditions. In workshop session, deals with real time operation of contactors such as quenching, humming and chattering.
On 11.09.14 the sessions consists of factors leading to overheating in electrical equipments, devices for motor protection, selection procedure for thermal over load relays that employs in protection and the action performed while tripping of relays. Starter for 3 Phase induction motor, such as DOL starter,Star-Delta, Auto transformer starter. The work shop session followed by the class room session made a clear picture on the real time operation of relays, starters and contactors
On 12.09.14 the sessions consists of protection devices for motor such as MCB and MCCB in the class room session as well as in the work shop session. In the workshop session, gives the detailed idea about Air Circuit Breakers and HRC fuse links.
