College Bazaar – An Exhibition By VCE and Women Self help Group

Women's Self Help Group, Sivagangai has displayed its manufactured articles such as Bags, Shirts, Pants, Chudidhars, Ready made Garments, food items, Jewellery and many hand made goods in the exhibition conducted at Vickram College of Engineering from 16-10-2014 to 18-10-2014. Mr. Raja Mohammed, Asst. Planning Officer, Sivagangai welcomed the gathering. The Exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Vickram, the Secretary Vickram Group of Schools and Colleges. Dr. S.Nagarajan, Principal, Vickram College of engineering presided and students welfare officer Mr. Nagarajan participated. Mr. Bismilla Nazruddin, the District Planning Officer (Women), Sivagangai, delivered the key note address. He said that the development of the nation depends on the upliftment of the women. Now a days women form their own self help group and try to earn their own living. This trend must be encouraged by buying the products produced by them he said. This will, not only make them confident but also help the rural areas to develop in all respects. Self employability will reduce the government's burden to a great extent,he narrated.The management of Vickram College of Engineering has made elaborate arrangements for the successful conduction of the special event.

The enthusiasm, sense of concern and interest shown by Vickram College of Engineering, by conducting this type of programmes, with regard to social service was appreciated by one and all.

Special Blood Donation camp at VCE on 06-09-2014

Hospitals and the patients alike need a lot of blood during their intensive treatment. Many deaths occur by serious injuries to victims due to lack of attention caused by non-availability of abundant quantity of blood. It is very well known fact, that during the treatment of injured patients, a lot of blood of different groups is required.

It is the responsibility for all of us to realise the need to donate blood. With this social commitment in mind the management, the volunteers, both students and staff members have taken the noble step to participate in this Special Blood Donation camp. Along with a like minded organisation- Akhil Bharathiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad -13 Jain saints joint Forum- Vickram CE has organised a Special Blood Donation camp, in the college premises, at 9:30 am on 06-09-2014. Vulaga Nayagan and Padma Bhushan winner, Actor Kamal Haasan has extended his hearty support for this Event.

The camp was presided over by Dr. S. Nagarajan, Principal. Dr. Vivek Jain, Dr. C.S. Rengan, Dr. P. Vijayarajan, and Dr. Jeenat, along with their team members conducted the programme successfully and collected 156 units of blood.

With the assistance of volunteers, the Doctors checked the Donors' eligibility criteria like age, weight, Blood Pressure and other ailments before the donation and allowed only the eligible volunteers to donate. Director Thiru. Vijay Shreniwas, Secretary Mr. Raj Santhosh and the Joint Secretary Dr. M.S. Vikram, participated in the Camp. Prof. S. Gopi, the College N.S.S. Officer along with Mr. Nitesh Kothari President and convenor Terapanth Yuvak Parishad , Madurai monitored the camp. The Blood Donation, certificates were issued to all the Donors. All the Donors were given sufficient replenishing refreshments.

NSS organized Blood Donation camp on 26-07-2014

        Now-a-days road, aircraft and train accidents occur very frequently, causing many deaths and serious injuries to victims. It is very well known to all, that during the treatment of injured patients, a lot of blood of different groups is required.

          It is the responsibility for all of us to realise the requirement of blood. With this social commitment in mind the management, the volunteers, both students and staff members have taken the noble step to participate in this Blood Donation camp.

      Keeping in mind the wish of the volunteers, a Blood Donation camp, was organized by N.S.S and Red ribbon Club of Vickram College of Engineering, in the college premises, at 10 am on 26-07-2014,.

       The camp was presided over by Dr. N. Akalya, Dy. Director, Sanitation and Health Department of Sivagangai. Dr. Praba Samyraj, Chief Blood Bank Officer, Madurai Medical College Hospital, Madurai, Dr. R.Sethu Ramu, Medical Officer, Poovanthi Division, and Thiru. Chandrasekaran, Divisional health Superindentent, along with their team members conducted the programme successfully and collected 50 units of blood.

NSS camp- “Brighter India Needs Brighter Youngsters”

 

A seven day NSS camp “Brighter India Needs Brighter Youngsters” was organised from 24th March, 2014 to 30th March, 2014 by Vickram College of Engineering at Thirumanjolai village near Arasnoor, on Madurai-Sivagangai Road.

Joint Secretary. Er. M.S. Vikram B.E, M.B.A. presided over the function. Several programmes were held for the students and youngsters of the village. The Secretary Mr. M.SR. Rajsanthosh, and the Principal, Dr. S. Nagarajan graced the programmes by their presence and special lectures.

Events on Each Day:

On the first day, Prof. M. Palnikumar, Dean, Civil Engineering Dept, spoke about the morals and Ethics of School children. Prof . Dr. David Chandrakumar highlighted the importance of education and higher education in particular. Sivagangai District Programme Officer, DAPCU. Shri. K.G. Shanmuga Sundaram addressed the gathering on AIDS Awareness. Medical In charge of Vickram College of Engineering, Ms. I. Clarance Anitha narrated the importance of First Aid Management. While Dr. P. Sivakumar, HOD of Mech. Dept, explained the process of Voting and its importance, NSS Officer of Wakf Board College, Dr. K. Nazar Sheriff spoke in detail about various activities of NSS. The importance of Blood Donation, Cleanliness, Health and Hygiene, First-Aid, Women's Health, Yoga, and Exercises were discussed by prominent speakers on all the days. Mr. V.G. Ramachandran, Mr. K. Murugan, the Presidents and the Secretary Thiru. K.R. Muthupandi of Thirumanjolai respectively, and Mr Ayyanar, the councillor, extended their cooperation in conducting the camp spectacularly. They whole-heartedly expressed their appreciation on the commitment shown by the Vickram Group of Schools and Colleges. 30 Engineering students attended this special Programme along with many villagers and school children.

This programme came to its conclusion with the Valedictory function, presided over by the Director Er. SR. Vijayshrenivas B.E. M.S. NSS member and II year student, Ms. Anitha read out the Programme report and Ward member, Mr Kalimuthu greeted all the participants. NSS Programme Officer Mr. Gopi delivered the vote of thanks. The able guidance and support of the Management of Vickram College of Engineering and coordination of NSS Programme Officer Mr. Gopi made the event very special and successful. This Programme proved to be another gem in the crown of social responsibility realised and practised by Vickram Group of Schools and Colleges, all the time.

Green Marathon on 16th February 2014

Well in advance, permission for organising the fourth Green Marathon on Sunday, 16th February 2014, scheduled to start at 6.00 a.m. and end by 9.00 a.m, was taken from district authorities. On 24-01-2014, a press meet was organised at The SPK Hotel, at 4.30 pm, for spreading the news about the Green Awareness programme. This year, with the appreciation and enthusiasm received, participant's strength swelled over 6500. M/s. Kalyani Group, JC residency, Magicwatt, Hallo FM, Devadoss Multi-speciality Hospital, Madurai Round Table 14 and Madurai City Round Table 99 supported Vickram CE for this noble Cause.

Marathon Race- Men-21 Kms: Race Course, Court> KK Nagar Arch, Avin> Appolo Hospital, Tank, Kamarajar Saalai, South Gate, Periyar Bus Stand, Mahaboop Palayam, New Jail Road, Simmakkal, Meenakshi Arts College, Narimedu, Vallabai Patel Road, Race Course.

Walkathon Race- Men-(Above 35 Years) 5 Kms: Race Course, Vadamalaian Hospital, TVS Hospital, Pandian Hotel, Race Course.

Skating Race- Children Below 12 years- 4 Kms: Race Course, Court> KK Nagar Arch, Avin> Anna Bus Stand, Collector's Office, Gandhi Museum, Raja Muthiah Manram, Race Course.

The marathon event helps in creating awareness on effects of global warming and advantages of using green energy. Levels of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are increasing at unprecedented rates.

All the above points were highlighted in the Programme.

Realising the danger of depletion of earth's energy resources, Vickram CE is using the alternative sources of renewable energy like, Solar Power, wind energy etc, for its energy requirements in Labs, Mess and Class Rooms. It also encourages students and Teachers to do projects and innovative studies in these lines. It conducts regular seminars and workshops. All over the Vickram CE premises thousands of trees and plants are grown. It had won the best environment awareness award in the year 2013.

The Event

The management of Vickram CE had made elaborate arrangements like provision of water pockets, Umbrella facilities, medical and first aid, proper announcements etc. Vickram CE director Er. SR. Vijayshreniwas, Secretary. M. SR.Rajsanthosh, Joint Secretary. M.S.Vikram, principal Dr. S. Nagarajan, and the staff members of Vickram Schools and Colleges Participated and encouraged the participants.

Dengue Fever Awareness for B.Ed, & M.Ed Students

Vickram College of Teacher Training conducted Health Awareness Programme on 7th March 2013, in the college campus. Headed by the Principal Mrs. T.Premalatha, this programme was graced by the presence of Chief guest Dr.Sudhakaran – Entomologist and special invitee, Mr.Ramar – Health Inspector, Poovanthi.

The Chief guest gave a special talk on “Dengue Fever”. He explained with the help of PPT, about the vector (Aedes) characteristics, its life cycle, the methods of destroying the Aedes, Dengue Prevention mechanism and the protection of human life from Dengue. There was an interactive session and questions raised by the students were answered by Dr.Sudhakaran and Mr.Ramar. 50 B.Ed, & M.Ed., students attended the awareness programme and reaped the benefit.
