Pooled Drive for Mechanical Engineers in Merchant Navy to be held on 22nd March 2014

 

              This is to inform that there is a Campaign for Selection of Candidates as

 

 

Mechanical  Engineers in a Singapore-based Shipping Company to be held on 22nd

 

 

March 2014 in our college campus . The name of the company is Executiveship

 

 

Management Pvt Ltd., Singapore. It operates 150 ships around the world.

 

 

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Final Year B.E. Mechanical Engineering Students passing out in 2014, with 55% of Marks. Graduates of Mechanical Engg who passed out in 2012 or 2013 are also eligible to participate in the selection process.

  2. 10th to 12th Std English: 55% of Marks

  3. Arrears, if any in the B.E. Examination, should be completed, while joining the company

  4. Medically Fit

 

 

Selection Process: 4 Stages

  1. Pre-Placement Talk, (which consists of Powerpoint Presentation about the Shipping Company, and the Career in Merchant Navy, and a Short Film on Samundra Institute) – One Hour

  2. Technical Test (Logic, Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, General Engineering, & English) – One Hour

  3. Psychometric Test – One Hour

  4. Panel Interview by Shipping Company Authorities, for short-listed candidates, after 15 working days

 

 

Training Period: One Year

  • The selected candidates will be on one year training at Samundra Institute, Lonovala, near Mumbai

  • After the completion of Training, they will be absorbed into the shipping company as Junior Engineers on a salary of $ 700 per month.

  • In 6 months' period, they will have to clear Class IV Examination, conducted by the Government of India, after which the monthly salary will range from $ 3000 to $ 4000.

  • Training fees of Rs. 4,00,000/- can be paid through bank loan.

campus at 9.00 a.m., on 22nd February 2014.

Our college bus services are available near Kattabomman Statue, Periar Bus Stand,

 

 

as well as near the Exit Point, Mattuthavani Bus Stand, as early as 7.30 a.m., on

 

 

22nd March 2014. Our College Bus Services can be availed on payment of Rs.50/-

 

 

towards bus token for up and down journey from the city, while boarding the buses.

 

 

Participants, who come to the indicated spots later than 7.45 a.m., will have to make

 

 

their arrangements to arrive at the college.

 

 

Canteen facilities are available on payment.

IEEE ICCIC 2013.

 

The inaugural ceremony of IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Computing Research, a 3-day coference was held on 26 Dec. '13 at 10.0 a.m. at the college premises. The event began with an invocation followed by the welcome address of Dr. M. KARTHIKEYAN, Organizing Secretary 2013 IEEE ICCIC, Secretary IEEE Podhigai Prof, Head of ECE Dept and VP of Tamilnadu College of Engineering. Dr. M. KARTHIKEYAN is the Organizing secretary of “IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Computing Research” (an IEEE sponsored annual event) ever since 2010. He encouraged the presenters to make use of the vast chance before them and endeavour to publish their articles in IEEE.

The Chief Patron of IEEE ICCIC, Er. M. K. S. SREENIVASAN, Chairman, Vickram Group of Institution in his Presidential Address shared his bliss of organizing the college's 2nd international conference following the success of ICIEMS (International Conference Interdisciplinary Engineering & Sustainable Management Sciences) in Feb. ’13.

Dr. N. KRISHNAN NALLA PERUMAL, General Chair – 2013 IEEE ICCIC, Chair IEEE Podhigai, Professor and Head, Center for Information Technology and Engineering, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University; Dr. R. RAJARAM, Dean (Research), Vickram College of Engineering; and Dr. A. ASKARUNISA, Professor and Head, Dept of CSE, Vickram College of Engineering expressed their felicitation for IEEE ICCIC and threw hint amongst audience on the topics of research that hold high scope. They also told the audience to be keen in updating their article status and take extra care on checking their documentation. 

The conference proceeding were released by the chief guest, Cdr. VIJAY SINGH, Dy. Director, Naval Research Board, DRDO, New Delhi; and the first issue was received by Er. M. K. S. SREENIVASAN. Cdr. VIJAY SINGH in his inaugural and key note address briefed on various kinds of project done under NRB, DRDO and augmented the exposure to the crowd. He enraptured the audience by his live citation of successful NRB projects. He concluded his talk exemplifying the needs for sending a project proposal and motivated young minds to valiantly undertake unique projects that could be granted to a maximum of a crore. 

The event was graced with the august presence of Er. S.R. Vijay Shrinivas, Director, Vickramce; Er. M. S.R. Raj Santhosh, Secretary, Vickramce; and Er. M.S. Vikram, Joint Secretary, Vickramce. As a mark of love and gesture of distinction, chief guest, guests of honor, and invitees were honored with a memento. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. S.NAGARAJAN, Vice Principal, Vickramce following which the event adjourned for technical activities. 

Out of 180 papers that were selected for presentation from various countries, 60 papers were presented on day 1 of the conference in 6parallel sessions of Dijkstra Hall -A, Dijkstra Hall - B, Turing Hall, Faraday Hall, Ramanujam Conference Hall, and Vikram Sarabai Conference Hall.

Workshop on Recent Developments in Concrete Technology, 4th January 2014

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

                           Today, concrete has virtually dominated the field of construction and the technology. The material has adapted itself continuously to the changing necessities of the construction industry, satisfying the numerous demands of engineers. Various analytical techniques are applied to study the effect of these parameters for quality control purposes. The workshop aims at providing a forum for field engineers, faculty, UG/PG students of various Institutes, and researchers for upgrading their knowledge on recent advances in the field of concrete technology. The workshop is designed in such a way that it will enlighten the participants with both theoretical and practical aspects of concrete technology.

OBJECTIVES:

·         To expose the recent advancements in concrete technology such as high performance concrete, self compacting concrete, use of waste materials in concrete, chemical and mineral admixtures.

·         To discuss the advances in concrete making materials and concrete mix design.

·         To create awareness and distribute knowledge related to durability design of concrete structures.

·         To motivate young researchers and faculty members in the field of concrete technology.
