Our College is confirmed as RESOURCE center for promoting the Spoken Tutorial project - IIT Bombay, an initiative of National Mission on Education through ICT, MHRD, Govt. of India. The Spoken Tutorial project is the initiative of the ‘Talk to a Teacher’ activity of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT), launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India.
Spoken Tutorial Resource Center will be conducting workshops on Linux, LaTeX, Scilab, PHP & MySQL, Python, Java, C/C++, OpenFOAM, Blender, K-Turtle,Oscad and GIMP.
First round of On Campus Recruitment drive by Nexhop Services Private Limited, Bangalore is scheduled on 22nd Dec 2015. All the Students from Computer Science and Engineering can participate in this drive.
International conference on Computational Intelligence And Computing Research was organized by our college in hands with IEEE on 10th , 11th and 12th December 2015, in the college premises. The aim of the conference is to bring together the leading Engineers, scientists and Researchers to debate and deliberate on theoretical and experimental Computational Intelligence that is encompassed by innovation and technology. This conference was a premier forum for the presentation of technological advances and research results, evolving new concepts and research directions through panel discussions in the fields of theoretical and experimental Computational Intelligence, Computer Vision, Image and Signal Processing.
The inauguration was started at 10 AM on 10th December at Ramanujam Conference hall. Dr. S. Nagarajan, the Principal of Vickram College of Engineering, delivered the welcome address. TheChiefPatron, Mr.M.K.S.Sreenivasan, the Chairman of Vickram Group of Institutions delivered the Presidential address. In his address, he focused about the importance of technology and also about the aim of conducting IEEE ICCIC confrence.
The conference was felicitated by Dr. R. Rajaram, Dean(Research), Vickram College of Engineering. He described about the impact and significance of IEEE and its exertions.
Dr. N. Krishnan, General Chair- 2015 IEEE ICCIC, professor and Head, Center for Information Technology and Engineering, M.S.University, Tirunelveli, gave a detailed description of the 6th edition of IEEE ICCIC, which encouraged the delegates to publish qualified papers. He also mentioned about Big Data, where the departments can work together to sort out problems in the day to day life. Dr. M.Karthikeyan, Organizing Secretary- 2015 IEEE ICCIC, Principal, Tamilnadu College of Engineering gave the felicitation address and Dr. Jorge Luis Victoria Barbosa, Professor of the Applied Computing Graduate Program, University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS), Brazil, appreciated the delegates for participating in the conference and encouraged them to publish more papers in future.
The key note address was given by, Capt. Thakur, Indian Navy, New Delhi. He started his address with a quote “Cogito ergo sum” which means “I think, therefore I am” by Descartes. He spoke about Green computing, and about Green designing and Green manufacturing with less damage to the environment.
Dr.A.Askarunisa, Professor and Head of Computer Science Department submitted the vote of thanks. And the program was adjourned for Technical activities. In the second day program Dr. Jorge Luis Victoria Barbosa, Professor of the Applied Computing Graduate Program, University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS), Brazil, presented the keynote address on Ubiquitous Computing. He described about the progress of related technologies of Ubiquitous Computing and he also gave a detailed description about Ubiquitous Computing and its applications like UDUCTOR, Hefestos, U-Learning -Local -stimulating interactions, Logistics, MUCS, and U-Games. Furthermore he explained about context histories, profile management and context predictions, the opportunities for the budding researchers to work on. In conclusion he focused on the concepts on applications and research of Mobilab. He encouraged the delegates to work on Context prediction as it is a hot research topic in the present era. He also responded all the queries discussed by the delegates in the conference. In the technical session, 179 research papers were presented by scholars from various colleges and Universities allover India and abroad (Newzeland, Srilanka, Japan, Brazil and South Africa)
We are happy to inform that Cambridge University Press India Private Limited (CUPIPL) has certified Vickram College of Engineering, Madurai as an Associate Centre for exam preparation for CUPIPL to promote Cambridge English Examinations and enroll & train candidates for one year from 14 September 2015 onwards.
An Alumni Meet was organized on 19th July 2015 (Sunday) at Hotel Quality Inn Sabari, Chennai. The Meet was attended by 19 alumni ranging across various batches that graduated from the year 2005 to 2015. Our Faculty members and Alumni of our college Mr. Mr. D. Weslin, K.Muthukumuran and Mr. M.Thigarajan jointly organized the alumni meet.
Our College faculty member Mr. D. Weslin welcomed the participants and he stressed the Role and Importance of Alumni in the development of the college to achieve greater heights. The Alumni shared their reminisces of the past in the college and their professional experiences in the organisation where they are employed. It was a great pleasure to know about their accomplishments in professional lives.
The primary objective of this meet was to provide a platform to the alumni and the graduating students to seek and render their support and cooperation to each other and develop a sense of understanding, particularly at the time of crisis. Most of them feel that again IT industry will boom in two years hence more opportunities will be available freshers. They also stressed on the need to give logical training and special training on enhancing technical skills of the students. Current pursuing students must be able to solve the problem solving skills and face the situation oriented questions in an efficient manner since these are all very important during the part of interview these days in all IT industy as our alumus stressed.
After the lunch, discussion on the future developments ensued and alumni came up with many suggestions. Our Faculty member Mr. M. Thiagarajan collected the feed back from the alumni regarding the organizational aspects of the Meet and their suggestions for improvement in professional training at the college.
Everyone departed with the resolve to visit again and spread the message amongst all who could not visit this time.The Alumni Meet came to a close, with the vote of thanks proposed by K. Muthukumaran.
Sivagangai District Police and Thiruppuvanam Police in collaboration with Vickram College of Engineering organised a Helmet Awareness Rally on 30-06-2015. 150 students belonging to "Rise and Shine" and NSS Wing of Vickram college of Engineering Participated. By 11'o Clock with Dr. S. Nagarajan, Principal, Vickram College of Engineering and Mr. MS. Vikram, Joint Secretary, Vickram College of Engineering, inagurating the rally, students marched from Thiruppuvanam Pudhur to Thiruppuvanam Varasandhai. Students raised slogans on the importance of Helmet and carried forth plackcards insisting the same. Alongwith Mr. Jagadeesh, Sub Inspector of Police (LO), Thiruppuvanam and Mr. Mohandass, Sub Inspector of Police (Traffic), Manamadurai, students of Vickram College of Engineering went on a bike rally to inculcate the essentials of wearing helmets were distributed to the public. The police team extended their heart felt thanks to the college management and students. They felt it was very useful program done at the right time for the public.
