HOW TO BECOME AN INSPIRATIONAL TEACHER

A special lecture session was organised in the College on 2nd July, 2011 at the conference hall. The Principal - Dr. S. Kathirrvelu welcomed the gathering. The Resource Person for the programme was  Dr. S. Thangasamy, Director -Centre for Educational Research, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. He gave his insight about 'How to become an inspirational teacher'. He started his presentation with the famous quote of Rabindranath Tagore 'Education is expression'.

He said “Teacher should live as a model and moral for the students”. He further said that the teacher should make the students to learn by insight. It is the duty of the teacher to train the students to manage their emotions and prepare them to courageously face the challenges of life. He recalled the famous quote “The destiny of India is shaped in the classrooms”.

He said that the purpose of teaching should be life oriented and teacher must involve the students in active learning. He expressed his views on becoming an inspirational teacher and said  that the teachers must create engineers not engineering graduates. He further said 'Inspirational teacher makes the student to think great and do great things'. He must have the patience and belief, that his student will win in any given circumstances. He concluded his presentation with the famous quote of Aristotle “I can't teach anybody anything, but I can make everybody think'.
