Workshop on “Software Modeling using Case Tools”- Report

A two days workshop on “Software Modeling using Case Tools” was organized by department of CSE associated with Sparx Systems-India on sep 5th & 6th 2014. The program was handled by Mr. S. Mohamed Bakkrudeen, Vice president, Operations & Delivery,Sparx Systems,India. He explained the modeling tool Enterprice Architect. The program content went on like this, starting with how to create a model and the components of a system. The creation of usecases has been discussed and created an activity diagram based on the requirements of usecases. With help of developed class diagrams code has been generated which acts as an prototype for the original software to be developed. Automated report generation has been discussed. Thus, the EA tool creates a wide job opportunity to young engineers.

ICTACT Youth Present Regional Final

ICTACT   Youth   Present   2014   Regional   Finale  was   conducted   on   9   August   2014 in Vickram   College   of   Engineering.  Dr. S. Nagarajan,   Principal,   Vickram  College   of Engineering  invited the gathering,  There were 10 presentations from 10 participants who have already cleared their preliminary rounds at earlier stages. These participants were given a 10­ minute time to exhibit their potential of presenting on the topics that were chosen by themselves.
Mr.   Sathya   Prakash,   Manager - Human  Resources,   HCL  Technologies   Ltd;  Mr. K.M. Suceendran,   Regional   Head   ­   Chennai   Resource,   Tata   Consultancy   Services;  Dr.   Ravi Thilagan, Director ­ Human Resources, Financial Systems and Services; Mr. Vijayakumar, Vice President ­ Human Resources, Prodapt Solutions Pvt Ltd; Mr. Venkatesh, Co-founder, Campus tiger; acted   as   Jury   Members   for   this  ICTACT   Youth  Present   2014 Regional Finale.
Following the presentations prelunch, a formal meeting was organised at noon where the Opening Address was given by Mr. M.S. Vikram, Joint Secretary,  Vickram Group of Institutions.  Followed by this, the  Inaugural Address  was offered by  Mr. M.Siva kumar, CEO, ICT Academy of Tamilnadu. He expressed that he was delighted to host the event in Vickram  College of Engineering.  Each  Jury members had their individual address to the aspiring students and shared their experience of life, and work culture they encountered. Post this, the ICTACT Youth Present 2014 Regional Finale Winner was announced as S. K.Janani,   Thiagarajar   College   of   Engineering,   Madurai,  who  made   a   presentation   on   her “Dream School.” With this victory, S. K. Janani will be participating in the pre­final for the National Level which will be conducted this Tuesday.
The  event  came   to a   fine  end with  Vote  of  thanks   proposed  by  Ms. L. Kamatchipriya, AHOD, Dept of CSE, Vickram College of Engineering.

ICTACT Youth Present Prelims

The prelimnary of "Youth Present 2014" was organized in association with ICT Academy of TamilNadu   on 1st and 2nd Aug 2014 at Ramanujam hall. The contest  started with welcome address by Mr. Weslin, ICTACT-Coordinator. Around 126 students from various colleges participated in this contest. Dr. R. Rajaram, Dean/CSE, Vickram College of Engineering, Dr. Smiles, HOD/English, Velammal College of Engg. and Tech., Madurai, Dr. S. Geetha, HOD/English, Fathima College, Dr. D. SundarSingh, Corporate, Sri Vidya College of Engg. and Tech., Dr. N. Lakshmi Narasimman, HOD/CSE, KLNCE, Dr. A. Askarunisa, HOD/CSE, Vickram College of Engineering and Prof. M. Palanikumar, Dean/Civil, Vickram College of Engineering acted as judges to select the best 10 presentations for the finals. The following 10 presentations were selected for the regional final to be held  at Vickram College of Engineering on 9th August 2014.

A 6 days training programme on "Android and MongoDB" was organised by the department of CSE from 28th July to 2nd August 2014. This programme was arranged exclusively for IV year CSE students in Lab 0. Mr.Sanket,Trainer, Pune discussed android and Web applications. He gave more hands-on training for the applications and data base connectivity.
