Alumni Meet Chennai - December 2010
The 3rd Alumni Meet was organised at Ramada Raj Park, Alwarpet, Chennai in the forenoon of 19th December, 2010. Around 17 alumni from the batch of 2005 to 2009 gathered for the meet. The Administrative Officer Prof. S. Nagarajan welcomed the participants and said, "This function is the Reunion between you and your former classmates". Principal Dr. S. Kathirrvelu presided over the function.
The primary objective of this meet was to provide a platform to the alumni and the graduating students to seek and render their support and cooperation to each other and develop a sense of understanding, particularly at the time of crisis. Principal Dr. S. Kathirrvelu made the keynote address and said that the purpose of the Alumni Meet is to facilitate the Alumnus to share their expertise and experience and brainstorm on the prospective avenues. He further added that it is the responsibility of the alumni to guide their juniors in the right path; which can be done by interacting with their juniors frequently through seminars. The Principal advised the alumni to appear for competitive examination and explore the possibilities in government organizations, like BHEL, IES and ICS etc.
After that, the discussion was open to the alumni who shared not only their reminisces of the past in the college but also the contemporary trends and traits of the company. They recollected their old memories associated with the college and the contributions of the college which changed their lives. Most particularly, they recalled the importance that was given to discipline and the quality of education in Vickram College of Engineering, and desired that the same tradition and values to continue over the years, so that the college could shine out prominently among the colleges in South India for its excellence.
The Alumni Meet came to a close, with the vote of thanks proposed by the Dean of the college Prof.M.Palanikumar. In his speech he thanked the Management for giving new dimension to this event.
