Young Indian's seminar on Green Activism

 

Vickram College of Engineering, supported by the Young Indians, Madurai, has organised a one day Seminar on “Green Activism”, on 20-01-2015 at 02:30 pm in the Ramanujam Conference hall. Mr.K. Abdul Kani, founder, You Think, has graced the occasion as the distinguished guest speaker. Being a Limca book of Record holder, and organizer of more than 1,800 “Save Planet Earth” events across India, he has created awareness about protecting Mother Earth to more than 2 lakhs students across India. He was one of the special invitees to meet Mr. Al Gore, Vice President, USA, and an invitee to care for “Billion Trees Billion People” campaign by Ex. President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

"Trees are our life; Live green, Save Green, and Be green for ever; together we can work towards Green Nation building; India@75 is an initiative of Young Indians (Yi) which envisions how India should be in her 75th year of independence and seeks to bring together all the people of the industry, government, institutions, community groups and individuals to translate the vision of 'Grow Green' into a reality; 'Yi' is interested in the initiative at grassroots which must be converted it into a vision of our country. Green awareness must be shared by all people from all walks of life; National Volunteering Week (NVW), celebrated between 18th and 24th January 2015, is inspired by the the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan of the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India,' are some of the points he stressed upon.

187 students of Young Indians, Madurai Chapter have participated in this event. Dr. M.S. Vikram, joint Secretary, Vickram Schools and Colleges, honoured the guests. Dr. S. Nagarajan, Principal, presided over the function and welcomed the gathering. II year ECE Student Selvi. Grace Esther delivered the Vote of Thanks. Considering the noble cause, the management of Vickram College of Engineering has made elaborate arrangements for the successful conduction of this event. Ms.T.G.Sandya, member, Young Indians, Madurai Chapter, coordinated.
