X Corporate Voice Programme Conducted on 28th June 2014

X Corporate Voice Programme was scheduled for the students of Final Year & Pre-Final Year ECE & CSE Branches. The Guest Speaker was Ms. Kavitha Kalaiselvi, Senior Manager – HR, HCL Technologies, Chennai.

Ms Kavitha Kalaiselvi talked about the Interview Skills. She advised the students to be dressed appropriately, and to face the interview with confidence and courage. She explained as to why students get rejected in interviews. It is diffidence which makes the students to withdraw into their own shell. Students need to talk convincingly with the help of their resume. Resume has to be prepared afresh for each of the interviews. Resume should not be copied, but it should bear the stamp of one's personality and attainments.

Projects have to be explained with all details. Sometimes, it is the projects which attract the attention of interviewing authorities. There should be no reservation or hesitation to talk about one's projects. Projects are inevitably the outcome of innovation and creativity. Projects establish the technical competence of students. Copying of projects, or diffidence to talk about the execution of projects would prove to be the launching pad for rejection of a candidate in an interview.

Ms Kavitha Kalaiselvi advised the students to nurture positive attitude to life and to shun all kinds of negativism in life. Aptitude is what the students need to keep developing from the first year, by performing the exercises in R.S. Aggarwal's book on Quantitative Aptitude. Right attitude and aptitude alone could enable them rise up to the expectations of the industry. Students should visit websites of companies and get themselves tuned to the needs of the company and prepare themselves for their career in the corporate world.

After the end of the speech of the Chief Guest, Ms Nanthini, wife of our Director Sri Vijay Srinivas, addressed the students about her relationship with the Chief Guest right from school days, and advised the students to take up all initiatives to get into the engineering career, by rising to the expectations of the industry.
