13th Sports Day & College Day
There was an impressive celebration of the 13th Sports & College Day on 18th & 19th February 2014 in our college campus. On 18th February 2014, students gave a series of cultural programmes in the evening, showing their histrionic talents. The best three items of events were selected for display in the College Day Function on 19th February 2014.
The Sports events took place in the morning hours on 19th Feb 14. Chairman Er. M.K.S. Sreenivasan hoisted the sports flag. Prof. Dr. E.K.T. Sivakumar, Dept. Of Nano Technology, Anna University, declared the sports meet open. Sports torch was ignited after the march past by sports personnel. A lot of students took part in the Sports and Athletic events. The winners were selected by judges, for the award of prizes by the Chief Guest Justice M. Karpaga Vinayagam, Chairperson, Apellate Tribunal For Electricity, Petroleum & Natural Gas, New Delhi.
The 13th Sports Day & College Day Function was held in the evening on 19th Feb 2014. The function started with the invocation. Dr. Arivoli, HOD ECE Dept, welcomed the audience. Principal Dr. S. Nagarajan, presented the annual report, listing the various activities of the college conducted in the course of the academic year 2013-2014. He proclaimed with proud that VCE, ranks second in Madurai and stands 66 amongst all the 537 Engg. Colleges in Tamilnadu.
Chairman Er. M.K.S. Sreenivasan made a few presidential remarks. He honoured the Chief Guest, Justice M. Karpaga Vinayagam, Chairperson, Apellate Tribunal for Electricity, Petroleum & Natural Gas, New Delhi, and the Guest of honour Prof. Dr. E.K.T. Sivakumar, Dept. Of Nano Technology, Anna University.
The Chief Guest in his key note address, recorded his appreciation of the growth and the development of the college over the past 13 years. He advised the students to show commitment and excellence in their studies as well as Character. Students with strong aim, focus and thorough involvement, shine in their lives. The purpose of education is not to get a degree alone but to bring laurels in their life, by their usefulness to the humanity. They must be truthful to themselves, obedient to their parents, and disciplined towards their gurus. Teachers, he said, must be devoted towards the holistic improvement of the students. He emphasised that all must have faith in the Almighty.
Chief Guest, gave away the prizes to the meritorious students who had secured university ranks, and who had won their positions in the athletic events. The function was followed by the selected and remarkable cultural events. Finally, the 13th Sports Day & College Day came to a close, with the vote of thanks proposed by the Dr. Askarunnisa, Prof & Hod of CSE.
