VCE serves the social cause -Pulse Polio Immunisation Drive

Two drops of Polio vaccine can make every child's life better than ever”- with this Manthra in mind, NSS unit-1 of Our College, with 23 NSS students actively participated in the one day door-to-door Pulse Polio Immunisation Drive which was held on 24th February 2013 at Poovanthi. Thanks to the Government's steps and WHO's assistance, Polio, the dangerous disease which once paralysed millions of children, is now under control and down to fewer cases around the world. To further reduce the menace, our College students educated the villagers and created an awareness regarding the importance of polio vaccination. They convinced the people to have their children immunized. Some of the NSS students assisted the medical team in giving polio drops to the children and some recorded the vaccinations, marking the names and addresses. There can be no doubt that this humanitarian approach will protect the children from the harmful invasion of ultra microscopic disease, in future. With the cooperation from the Doctors and team of the Poovanthi Primary Health Centre, the NSS Programme Officers of our College, have taken great initiative to organize this event. The management has rendered enormous support for the successful conduction of this purposeful programme. This is another step taken forward by our College to serve the social cause.
