The Rise N Shine Club of Vickram College of Engineering conducted a "Plastic Usage Awareness Programme on 23/07/18 for the schools nearby. Around 140 students of Class 8 and 9 from Thirumonsolai Government School participated. The programme was conducted in the Ramanujam Conference Hall. The program commennced with the Tamil Thai Vazthu. Ms. Kalaivani of final year ECE gave the welcome address to the gathering. The movie " A Plastic Ocean " was screened to the students. A Plastic Ocean is a documentary film directed by the Australian journalist Craig Leeson. It dives into and investigates the devastating impacts that plastic has caused to our environment, especially our marine life.
The session was follwed by a question and answer session conducted by Mr.Sivanesh and Mr.Nawaz. The inquisitive school students clarified their doubts about the effects of using plastics.
The programme came to an end with a Vote of Thanks by Mr.Balaji Ganesh of final year CIVIL.
Rise N Shine Club successfully entered the fourth year and celebrated the leather anniversary on 26th March 2018 in ramanujam hall. Mr.Sudharsan , President of RNS welcomed the gathering. Dr.Umamaheswaran, Principal delivered the presidential address. A video tribute was given by Mr.Vembarasu ,secretary of RNS. Mr.Vignesh ,IV year Mechanical Engg introduced the chief guest Mr.R.Yogeshwaran. He was working as the project officer in IIT, Chennai and also pursuing his doctoral programme. It is very proud to say that Mr.R.Yogeshwaran was our college alumnus who completed his under graduation in the department of mechanical engineering in the year 2013 and also the anna university rank holder.He listed the opportunities and benefits of cracking the GATE exam and also gave important tips for the preparation of the competitive exams. The event followed with the swearing in ceremony of the new committee for the year 2018 - 19.

International Women’s Day celebrates the power of women – their rights and role in our lives and society. International Women's Day Celebrated on 8th March 2018 in Ramanujam Conference Hall at 2.00PM. Ms.Subhashini of III EEE welcomed the gathering. The Chief Guest for the programme was Dr.E.Srie Vidhya Janani , Assistant professor, Anna University , Regional Campus ,Madurai.Various events like songs, dance, games are performed by the students. Ms.Suriya of IV CSE delivered the vote of thanks.
The Students of RISE N SHINE Club organized the Dengue Awareness camp in our campus on 13/10/17 and in Vickram polytechnic college campus on 15/10/17 for the benefit of students and faculty members. Mr.Mukesh of final year Mechanical Engineering elaborated the causes of Dengue fever and prevention of dengue fever. Mr.Vembarasan of final year ECE department emphasized the importance of drinking Nilavembu drink and also stressed the importance of keeping the environment clean.
The student volunteers distributed the Nilavembu drink to all the students and faculty members.
Fresher’s Party are organised to welcome the new comers in educational institutions.The 6th of october was marked as a memorable day in the life of every Fresher at Vickram College of Engineering.The day started with the welcome address proposed by Mr.Nawaz sheriff of III year Mechanical Engg. The Department seniors gave a very good explanation , importance and uniqueness of their respective department. Mr.Vembarasan , Secretary (RNS) took the show with fun filled games for the first year students.The day was filled with talent, music, excitement and enthusiasm.Mr.Sivaramapandian of final year Mechanical Engineering interacted with the juniors about Engineering,practical exposure, training methods,how to shape the life and career for a challenging world , building characters etc..
First year Students came to know about the RISE N SHINE Club and also about various clubs like IET,NEN, YI-YUVA, NSS, ROTARACT etc.
Ms.Roshini (IV CSE), Ms.Subhashini (III EEE) , Mr.Karthik Raj (IV CIVIL) wished all the first year students for the successful completion of their course in our esteemed Institution. The fresher's fest came to an end by Ms.Jeni (IV CSE) concluding the Vote of thanks.
Today 6-10-2017, it was another feather for the department of Mechanical Engineering. It is a pleasure for our department to sign MOU with the Rubber Skill Development Council (RSDC), National Skill Development Corporation, Govt. Of India, New Delhi. Our Hon'ble Principal Dr.S.Nagarajan welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Maghna Mishra, the Chief Executive Officer of Rubber Skill Development Council was the Chief Guest for this programme. She gave valuable inputs about the council and motivated the young minds. This is a great initiative started by our college. RSDC alongwith our college promotes Rubber Skill Training for the students. This training will create more job opportunities for the students, and also a great platform for the young engineers. Mr. Vignesh, Regional Co-ordinator of RSDC, South, explained the various opportunities and Companies of Rubber Industries situated in and around Madurai and also in India. Our Director Mr.Vijayshrenivas and Mrs. Maghna Mishra , CEO signed the MOU. The programme came to an end with the vote of thanks given by Mr.N.R.Parthasarathy, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department.
The student members of Rise N Shine celebrated the 71st Independance day on 14/08/17 . The programme started at 10.30AM with Tamilthai Valthu. The welcome speech was given by A.S.A Sudharshan , President of Rise N Shine. Rasika & Co of final year Civil Engineering welcomed the gathering by an ethical dance performance. A mime show on HOW INDIA GOT ITS INDEPENDANCE was enacted by the members of RNS. Many events like recitation of tamil poems, solo dance , speech , song and group dance were enthusiastically performed by the students.
Non teaching staff were honoured on this great occasion.The lucky winners on that day were awarded by Mrs.Chita, Department of Mathematics.
Various competitions on patriotism ,peace ,unity were conducted between 7/08/17 and 10/08/17.The Prizes were given to the winners by our Principal Dr.S.Nagarajan .

It is the time of the year when farewell adieu, slambook, autograph are i rage.The RNS body of VCE arranged farewell program to bid adieu to its senior founding members. The program started with a welcome address by the new president of RNS Sudharshan , III MECH. K.Vignesh receited a poem on bidding goodbye to his senior friends and mentors.This was followed by a skit by the department of ECE. The audience were further enthrolled by the dance programs of Rizan and Ajith. The heaviness of the heart was further lightened by a series of fun events.
The following faculty members, Dr.David (MATHS), Mr.Dass Mohan(CIVIL),Mr.Kumarasamy(EEE), Mr.Nagaraj (ECE) and Ms.Pritima(MECH) extended their best wishes to the outgoing students. Our Principal Dr.S.Nagarajan also addressed the students offering pearls of wisdom.The vote of thanks was proposed by Aanand of ECE department. The event came to a fitting end with a candle light ceremony.
