CERTIFICATE COURSE IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION

The Centre for University Industry Collaboration (CUIC), Anna University, Chennai in collaboration with BSNL, Tamil Nadu Circle offered a seven-day Certificate Course in Mobile Communication for the final year students of various disciplines of Vickram College of Engineering and Kamarajar College of Engineering from 30th November 2009 to 6th December 2009 in Vickram College of Engineering, Enathi.

The BSNL, Tamil Nadu Circle, has evolved the course content in consultation with the CUIC ( Centre for University Industry Collaboration) of the Anna University, Chennai. This course, which is specially designed for the benefit of students studying in various Engineering Colleges affiliated to Anna University across the state, gave tremendous insight into the latest trends in mobile technologies.

The course which addressed advanced theory on mobile communication, practical demonstration and technical presentation comprised three days awareness program in the form of lectures and a two-day training program in competence development followed by two days for the practical exposure at the telecom-installation sites of BSNL Madurai. They were also trained in personality development and interview techniques.

Inauguration
The Vice Chancellor of Anna University Chennai, Dr. P. Mannar Jawahar and Mr. D. Varadarajan, Chief General Manager, Tamilnadu Circle inaugurated the Certificate course through video conferencing from the e-studio of Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Telecom Training centre, BSNL, Meenambakkam, Chennai.

In the inauguration function that took place in Vickram College of Engineering, Shri. V. K. Sanjeevi, General Manager, BSNL, Madurai was the chief guest. In his inaugural address, he mentioned how this course was materialized and the purpose of the course- to enhance the employability of the engineering graduates. In his special address, the Chairman of Vickram Group of institutions Mr. M.K.S. Sreenivasan remarked that, continuous technical innovation is happening in the field of communication technology and this course would help the students to update their knowledge about the new technology. The Principal, Prof. M. Palanikumar welcomed. Dr. Suja Ravi Isaac, Course Coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.

After the field visits, students were taken to the Vickram College campus where they had to undergo an online post-assessment test.

Valedictory function
Principal of the college Prof. M. Palanikumar welcomed the gathering. He appreciated the step taken by Anna-University Chennai in collaboration with BSNL-Tamilnadu for updating the students with the knowledge of Mobile Communication which is the ‘talk of the day’.

Dr. S. Selvam, Director CUIC-Anna University Chennai delivered the Valedictory address. In his address he stressed upon the importance on getting hands on training of the latest technology and also said that this course acts as a platform for the students to make themselves updated about the expectations of the industry.

There was an interactive session after the valedictory address. The students enthusiastically participated in this session and clarified their doubts.

The Resource Person from BSNL Ms. Latha Raja Raman thanked Anna University Chennai for joining hands with BSNL in organizing this mega event. She also thanked various colleges for their co-operation and support in organizing such a value added programme.
