Guest Lecture on "Opportunities in Railways"

The guest lecture held on 13.02.13 was delivered by Er S Nirmal Kumar Permanent way Inspector Southern railways and Alumni of our college 2006-10 batch in civil engineering. He started with an introduction about Indian railways and enumerated its development from days its started. It was like an overview on ‘Raiway Engineering’ when he explained important terminologies that an engineer must know. He then explained today’s status of Indian railways, its hierarchy and division and also the status of southern railways. He also explained about the expected developments that would be happening in the railways in the future. The scope and opportunities for a civil engineer were charted out in govt. public and private sectors. He also shared his experience as a student and the importance and role of faculty for student growth, now he developed himself ready to face the outside world and listed out the websites and magazines that a civil engineer should be in touch with. This invited guest lecture was a wonderful opportunity to know about the scope for civil engineers not only in railways but also in other sectors and was useful to the core. This Guest Lecture was organaised by Prof. L Ponraj sankar, HOD/civil Engineering and conclude with vote of thanks was given by Ms M Uvasri III year Civil.
