IET - Development of Solar Power Sector in India - On grid and Off grid

A Guest Lecture on "Development of Solar Power Sector in India - On grid and Off grid" was organized by the IET-VICKRAMCE Student Chapter on 31st October 2013 at the Ramanujam Hall. Mr. Vineeth Vijayaraghavan, Founder and Editor of Panchabuta was the Resource Person for the programme. The Co-ordinator of IET Ms. Anusha A.K.R.S. initiated the proceedings and Mr. A. Mohamed Sulaiman, Chairman, IET- VICKRAMCE Student Chapter welcomed the gathering. Mr. S. Sudharshan, Secretary of IET-VICKRAMCE Student Chapter introduced the guest to the gathering.

In his presentation Mr. Vineeth Vijayaraghavan gave a brief report on energy crisis in India and around the world and the need for renewable energy sources. He explained to the students about the energy sources available in India and highlighted the evolution of usage of various energy sources - Coal, Kerosene, Steam, Petrol etc. by humans. Also he emphasized that solar energy can be used as an alternate source of energy in the present scenario. He talked about the benefits of solar energy, success of solar power production in India and the future prospects of solar power production in India. After his interesting lecture, he interacted with the students and answered their queries on the topic. 115 student members of IET registered their interest in this programme and reaped the benefits.
