A workshop on “Open Source Technologies” was organised by the IET-VICKRAMCE Chapter for the faculty members of Vickram College of Engineering on 22nd February, 2014 at the Turing Hall in the premises of Vickram College of Engineering. Mr. M. Satish, Founder CEO, Mr. Rajasekar and Ms. Kavyashree from Design Esthetics & The IET, Bangalore were the Resource Persons for the programme. The workshop was based on using open source tools and technologies to implement enterprise CMS. The function was presided over by Dr. S. Nagarajan, Principal, Vickram CE. Around 33 IET staff members from various department attended the workshop. In his first session, Mr. M. Satish briefed about open source tools used to design and open source platform/framework for implementation. He Emphasised the urgent need of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) knowledge persons required by IT industries nowadays. He also provided information on open source testing tools and deploying applications on cloud computing. He gave live demo on Drupal CMS, an open source language and Fuel PHP framework.
