Lose Blood, Feel Healthy!

The necessity to save life from death has always been an unquestionably needed factor as everyone desires to live long. Donating blood is one such act that could save lives of people beyond all disputes. On 25 Jan. ’13, Vickram College of Engineering in collaboration with Primary Health Centre, Poovanthi & Blood Bank organises a one-day blood donation drive at the college premises. This drive is an open call for any public who would like to involve themselves in the act.

NSS: Say "YES" to Rules!

 

       Road accidents have always been an inescapable act however hard one tries to stick on to the ways to prevent it. To appreciate individuals who adhere to the road rules, “Road Safety Programme” is to be celebrated on 18 Jan. ’13. The event will be held under the headship of our Director, Mr. M.S.R.Vijayshrenivas at two venues: the college entrance, and Poovanthi bus stop. Offering sweets to the commuters wearing helmets, and sticking reflectors and labels to all vehicles will be the key focus of the event. Around 50 NSS student volunteers are to partake in this.

           The Indian Society for Technical Education—Tamilnadu & Pondicherry State Section celebrates its 15th Annual Convention on 15 Dec. '12 at Maharaja Coll. of Engg. The convention has come forward to honour eminent engineering teachers with “Lifetime Achievement Award.” Dr. R. Rajaram, Dean, Dept. of CSE, awaits to be bestowed with this award and add a feather to his cap.

   We congratulate him on his success reign, and wish him to continue as long as the world glows!

Bharathiyar's Birth Anniversary Celebrations:

        

             To commemorate the memory of Tamil verse legend, Bharathi, a massive celebration took place on 9 Dec. '12, Sunday, at A. M. K. Mahal, Sivagangai. Bharathi's undying spirit was felt in all the attendees ranging from schools to colleges. As our representation, Vinoth Subramanian L., II CSE partook in Verse Writing. Unfailing our expectations, he bagged I prize & recorded his  presence as the Bharathi our college.

Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships 2013

Dr Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India, is a graduate and Honorary Fellow of St John’s College.  He is widely acknowledged as the architect of the economic reforms that have helped propel India onto the World Stage.  In honour of Dr Singh St John’s College, the University of Cambridge launched the Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships in Delhi in 2007.  These awards will enable academically outstanding Indian students to come to St. John’s College, University of Cambridge to study for doctoral degrees in subjects like Science & Technology, Economics and Social Sciences.

Applications in Aerospace Engineering and Energy Studies will be of particular interest.

Edit:
The server was previously hosted outside the college. Now it has been moved to a dedicated server in college campus. This has both advantages and disadvantages.
Advantage because it runs here in India, so you can make necessary changes as you please, and backups are easy and fast.
Disadvantage because we are facing 16 hours of power cut for the past 6-9 months, this is not a problem, as the server runs from solar PV power. But our internet provider and their upstream providers are finding it hard. Hopefully these problems will be solved in the coming months.

IET-VICKRAMCE - BRAIN TWISTERS - CIRCULAR

We are happy to inform that the IET-VICKRAMCE Chapter will be organising a competition titled "BRAIN TWISTERS" for the IET student members of our college. The competition will consist of three rounds namely “Just a Minute”, “Crossword” and “Logo”. The competition will be conducted on 10. 9. 2012 (Monday) from 3.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. in the Main Block Conference Hall. The programme will be organised by the IET student members of Civil Engineering branch. All staff members and IET student members are cordially invited.

We have 187 guests and no members online
