A programme on the Special Address by Dr.Guruprakash was organised in the conference hall. This programme was held on 30-7-2010 for the Final Year students of all branches. The programme commenced with the welcome address delivered by the Principal of the college Dr. S. Kathirrvelu. In his speech he asked the students to make use of this opportunity to take the maximum benefit from the Resource Person. He also appreciated the efforts taken by the Project Coordinator Mr. Madhu and Dr. Suja Ravi Isaac, Head of the Department of ECE for organising this programme. The programme was graced by the Administrative Officer, Mr. S. Nagarajan.

The Resource Person Dr. Guruprakash who is pursuing his post-doctrate in Biomaterials from University of Medical Centre, Netherlands. In his presentation he discussed with the students about the possibilities of higher education in abroad.Through his slides, he explained the benefits of studying in abroad and stated that by studying in abroad the students gets the international exposure and the opportunity to upgrade his bachelor degree. He said that TOEFL, IELTS, GRE and GMAT are some of the entrance exams through which the students can get admitted to any kind of courses in foreign university. In the second phase of his presentation he also provided with vital information related to Biomaterials which the students found it to be highly informative and knowledgeable.

The programme came to the end with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr.S uja Ravi Isaac, Head of the Department of ECE.

 Dr. Guruprakash, University of Groningen, Netherlands speaks on higher studies in Europe and Biomedical  on 30th July 2010 at 2 pm.in the conference hall    He is doing his post doctorate in Bio materials.  Principal Dr. S. Kathierrvelu will welcome the gathering.

RULES & REGULATIONS:

1. II BE / BTECH Students are eligible to participate.

2. A team of two persons (either two boys or two girls) can participate.

3. A team can participate in exactly one event.

4. Any number of teams can participate for the preliminary  round.

5.Prelims will be conducted to all the teams on 4th august 2010 between 1.15 pm to 1.45 pm.

6. Four teams for each event can be selected for the final round.

7. WINNER & RUNNER TEAMS WILL BE AWARDED PRIZES.

Interested Final year Students (both male & Female) of EEE, ECE, IT, CSE and Mechanical Branches, with 60% of Marks are directed to submit the filled up applications so as to reach the naval HQ, Southern Command before 23rd July, 2010. The details can be had from the Placement Dept.

Er.V.Muthu. Professor of Thiagarajar College of Engineering(Retd), Department of civil Engineering and Consulting Engineer Madurai, is going to deliver a Guest Lecture on
“Introduction to ENERGY EFFICIENCY BUILDING” at SS Manian Block’s conference HALL on 20.07.10 at 11.00 a.m.
 

There is a 6th Month Certificate/Diploma Course on Engineering Design & Analysis, being conducted by Lakshmi Vidya Sangham, in collaboration with IIT, Chennai. This course is open to Mechanical Engineering Graduates. This programme is conducted in the campus of Lakshmi School Campus, Veerapanchan, Sivaganga Road, Madurai-20, through video confeferencing method from IIT, Chennai.

The passed-out students of Mechanical Engineering as well as teaching faculty members of Mechanical Engineering Department can make use of this opportunity and get themselves qualified for Diploma in Engineering Design & Analysis.

Full-time & Part-time Courses are available. Courses commence on 1st August 2010.
