About the Workshop:

The management of the all precious water resource continues to be a challenging domain not only to individuals, or even to countries but to the whole of man kind. The water management problems are compounded by hostile and unpredictable weather conditions, geography, population and many other constraints.

The present water management practices and policy adapted by many countries are largely fragmented and may not be sustainable. The workshop discusses current global, regional and national situations, tools and techniques to improve sustainability with focus on water demand management, watershed management, groundwater and agricultural water management, and implications of unsustainable practices.

Objectives:

The objectives of the workshop are to:

  • discuss key elements of sustainable water management

  • introduce concepts and technologies to reduce urban water demand and improve water efficiency

  • discuss current thinking and tools on watershed management and flooding

  • enhance understanding for sustainable practices for urban run-off management

  • discuss current practice, implications and solutions for groundwater and irrigation water management
