The 9th Sports Day commenced with a prayer song in the forenoon on 1st April 2010. Our Administrative Officer Prof. S. Nagarajan welcomed the audience. Our Founder & Chairman Sri M.K.S. Sreenivasan, M.E., stressed the importance of sports and games, by observing that they enable the students to keep their minds and bodies fresh and agile. Then our honourable guest of honour Sri R. Somasundaram, Asst. Commandant General, Home Guards, commended the institutation for being a pioneer in the realm of students' discipline. He cited the days of yore, when sports and games used to occupy prime place in educational institutions. The fast food and the fast culture, he commented, have deteriorated the health of our youngsters. To be healthy and to be free from sugar complaints, students have to devote an hour each day on sports and games. He advised the students not to yield to the temptations of mobile phones or mass media, as they rob students of their valuable time.

Then the Chief Guest Sri K. Magudapathi, Asst. Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Madurai city declared the 9th Sports' Meet open, and received the salutes of the atheletes, who went in march past. The Olympic torch was lighted and taken around the ground by sportsmen and players. In his address, the Chief Guest Sri K. Magudapathi advised the students to give importance both to their studies and to the maintance of health through sports and games. He quoted the principle of sound mind in a sound body – the significance of which should not be lost sight of by students of today. He sought the students to develop a sense of social responsibility in their lives, and to contribute to the health of the society. He advised the students to obtain driving licence and to use helmet, while driving two wheelers. He appealed to the administration to invite the RTO Department officials in the college campus and to arrange for the issue of driving licences to students, after organizing an awareness campaign about the duties and responsibilites of road users.

Prizes and medals and certificates of merit were issued to students who had excelled themselves in various atheletic and field events – long jump, short-put, relay race, running race, etc. Sri R. Chandrasekaran, Senior Lecturer, Training & Placements, proposed the vote of thanks.

College Day:
The 9th College Day commenced with prayer song. Our Principal Dr. S. Kathirrvelu welcomed the audience. Our Dean Prof. M. Palanikumar read the annual report, listing the activities of the college in the course of the academic year 2009-2010. He cited the landmarking improvements in college academic results, placements, sports and games. Our Chairman Sri M.K.S. Sreenivasan, M.E., recalled the phenomenal growth of the institution, which is mainly because of the students and the teachers, who have been striving hard for building the reputation of the college. He stated that the college administration gives free education to 10% of students, who maintain good academic scores. Besides this, scholarships are also given to deserving students, who maintain good academic performance. Students are encouraged to participate in national and international conferences on technical subjects at the expense of the management of the college.

The Chief Guest Sri Elango, Chairman of Vishal Group of Companies, in his address, cited the instances of his association with the Chairman of our college. He observed that Sri M.K.S. Sreenivasan is a model engineer, who emerged into a technocrat and a successful entrepreneur in his career. He advised the students to follow his example and to attain excellence in life. He stated that there are 3 main principles for the success of any individual – namely, self-confidence, perseverance, and faith in God. He appealed to students to dream about their future goals, and to turn their vision into a reality, by their hard work and involvement. The students who had made achievements in their studies and other extra-curricular activities were given prizes.
